  1. Ah I must have mis-read, I had in my mind this was a half sovereign for some reason, maybe because I seem to see a lot of 82 proof half's for sale. Means the buyers loss is not as bad as I had assumed and a £50 partial refund seems reasonable - maybe try and push for a bit more to get it close to bullion value then you can be happy with your purchase. (potentially you can sell the box and coa as these have an intrinsic value of their own)
  2. It looks real, just very abused. It's value un-conserved would be reduced to that of its bullion equivalent though so you have over-paid quite considerably at £430. Sounds like the seller knew what he was doing but you still have the right to request a return. If he refuses you can open a case. It may be negatively impacted by the fact you gave feedback but eBay does tend to support the buyer more often. If you do return make sure you send SD and not just recorded.
  3. Just call them, they always hold some back because of issues with the checkout system I have managed to get a number of coins doing it after they have 'sold out' on the website
  4. This weeks purchases. Thanks @Charverdude for the carded half and quarter sovereigns and the QB Completer Thanks @shawy2510 for one of the 2002 Jubilee Sovereign and George VI Half-Crown first day covers (not decided yet whether these will stay in the packaging or be freed) Then a limited presentation 2022 sov, some loose 2022 Sov's and a silver Brit
  5. Now this looks like the Bee's knees. Finally something decent not related to the Platinum Jubilee which is getting quite 'old' now
  6. I would not say now is a good time to sell, gold is lower at the moment because the dollar is high (with other factors of course) but if you just wait on the inevitable drop in the dollar you will net a better return
  7. For gold I would recommend sovereigns over 24k gold, they are always very easy to liquidate. Dealers I would recommend: Atkinsons, Chards & Britannia Coins - I rarely use Bullion by Post as they tend to be more expensive. Atkinsons are my personal favourite but they are local to me. Them and Chards are very similar on price but I use my credit card to buy for security and chards only take debit cards, though I will use them occasionally if their price is too good to resist. I see you are a silver member so the compare price tool on here is open to you, it does not include every dealer but is a great place to check prices.
  8. Your fine that was not an affiliate link, you only posted the link to the deal to get the free Brit not your affiliate link so you got one ☝️
  9. One on the right is the stock picture from the Royal Mint, there may be some 'slight' inconsistencies
  10. 2019 proof sov at BBP for £402 https://www.bullionbypost.co.uk/proof-sets/proof-sovereigns/gold-proof-2019-sovereign-boxed/
  11. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/mariapaola1/m.html?item=265760839264&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2562 All they are selling right now is a job 'log' of sterling silver
  12. That's a nice one, seen some mad prices on gothics and godless florins recently. https://auctions.thecoincabinet.com/auctions/4-5X1R8N/auction-65-historic-british-coins?categories=4-63NQ14&limit=36
  13. Buying large quantities at once is an impossible call, gold goes up, gold goes down. Buying regular amounts to maintain a cost average, every day is a good day to buy gold Its low compared to recent months today, but who knows what will happen tomorrow. I have been buying long enough to remember being nervous when sovereigns reached £100 These days I buy what I like on impulse, and a bit of bullion every month depending on what free cash I have If your just starting out, small and often, maintain a cost average and remember gold is for the long term. I find it helps to be in the mindset buying gold is not spending money, just converting it to different money.
  14. Something a bit different to my usual today
  15. Its a Royal Mint set, has the COA and booklet they just aren't in the picture. Contains one of each design during that period
  16. Whatever you do don't put his name and address up on here <wink><wink> I would hate to think people in this forum would start signing him up for all sorts of junk and spam, that would be teeerrrribbbbbleeeeeeeeee
  17. I am selling a pack of 8 gold bars if your interested, still in OMP: I am sure we can work out a good deal In all seriousness though everyone loves a bargain and I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a punt sometimes. eBay can be a tricky place to trade - I have been stung as seller when my buyer claimed the item did not match the original description and wanted a partial refund or return, despite the fact I had cut and paste the description from the manufacturers website and it was a brand new unopened item. The sneaky beggar put the requested refund amount just under the combined cost of sales and return postage and I suspect they made a habit of it knowing the seller would realise the smallest loss on the transaction was to issue a partial refund - one to watch out for. Had another who requested a return then returned a fake of the coin I had sold him, clearly searched for the exact coin he had so he could do just that. Was not even a good fake.
  18. Welcome, and congrats on starting on a new and highly addictive hobby
  19. My second one of these sets, suspect these will be just moved into airtites to make storage easier though
  20. I buy airtite tubes from a guy in a facebook group I am in https://www.facebook.com/groups/1345211949146154 Then buy the capsules to go with them from @morezone here on the forum. I have had caps for all size gold and silver coins both ringed and direct fit off morezone, this is a good resource for finding the right size https://www.airtiteholders.com/suggested-holder-list.html
  21. I often do this when posting a coin if it moves slightly in the cap (especially RM caps which have dropped considerably in quality and accuracy of sizing in the last few years) as it stops it rattling in the post and potentially revealing the content and also removes the risks of getting rub marks from the capsule. You 100% need to reposition the little gold coin, and as others have advised using you bare fingers is best avoided
