  1. Probably worth mentioning RM also seem to work differently depending on if your ordering bullion or proof. Bullion the money seems to be taken immediately regardless of when the item is to be shipped, proof (or celebration items such as BUNC coins etc) they put a hold on which drops after 7 days if they have not shipped then the hold gets confirmed upon despatch So in your case @Petra it may depend on what you ordered
  2. It will likely be a hold not a charge and it will drop in 7 days
  3. I spoke to Tavex yesterday to chase outstanding orders which I had placed prior to the Queens passing. Chap on the phone said they had increased price on 2022 sovereigns to control demand as they were receiving a volume of orders they knew they would be unable to cope with in a timely manner. The issue was compounded because they had given people time off as they did not intend shipping Thu/Fri last week because of postal strikes, they have had to have people working overnight since to get orders ready for despatch and they will not clear the backlog until this afternoon at the earliest. I guess the proof of the pudding will be the price levels when things calm down again. If there is a criticism of Tavex to be made here is is that they have proven they cannot flex to demand, but these were exceptional circumstances so I for one am happy to wait a little longer for my orders.
  4. The RM put a hold on that money as soon as you order, if they do not ship the item(s) the hold will drop. Then they confirm the charge when they ship. I bet if you check the charge it will be dated on the date of purchase and not today. Whatever you tried to order though should arrive as the confirmation of charge is done on despatch. Banks will not stop a confirmation of charge that was previously a hold, if you tried today they would likely stop the hold though, just the way it works unfortunately. It works the same way with RM on my Barclaycard
  5. I want them back now, great picture - can you do a reverse showing the shields?
  6. The YouTube selective use headlines and sound bites to get clicks, and they will use the extreme of either side - that PM's are going to drop hard or they are going to the moon, I would recommend you watch some of the video's of our very own @BackyardBullion
  7. Pick up today from the jewellers in town, Sold to them by the family of a chap who had passed away, found in a box in his attic along with some other 1966 stuff, mostly world cup related. Probably some of the best condition Gillicks I have ever picked up.
  8. This arrived, shame it has to go back, I had told myself I would not order anymore proof silver from RM - not messing about this time though, straight refund. My luck with RM sucks Reverse frosted Obverse
  9. In 1990 you could get them below issue price, it was not a popular design at the time at all. Makes you wonder where some of the unpopular designs of today will be in 20 years
  10. Stick me a double under the counter @LawrenceChard - tried a couple of times to buy but my browser does not like your automated assistant and I want my free postage Will bite the bullet and ring up to speak to a real human tomorrow I suppose <sigh>
  11. I’ve got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
  12. We British are a calmer breed lol
  13. Don't jump too fast, its taking months to get tax back because of their new fraud policy and the backlog of investigations into COVID claims
  14. I think gold is dipping hard in USD, sure I saw something about it being down $300
  15. I still think we are due a dip, if 'normal' recessionary behaviour applies anyway. If the pound goes up against the dollar especially, or the dollar significantly weakens. £1399 might be a push, but it would not surprise me, though the recessionary dip in gold is generally followed by a sharp rise as well, so if there is a dip it may be a temporary thing But then, I am wrong a LOT of the time, so the wife tells me constantly
  16. Worth noting some older sovereigns and half sovereigns can be 'oversized', particularly from the Australian mints, and still be completely genuine. I'm talking a tenth or so of a mm but it does happen. Normally only spottable with callipers or when you have a perfectly sized capsule. Though if your buying only current year bullion you should never encounter this.
  17. This is how I store 1oz gold, direct fit airtite capsules and airtite H tubes - use the same tubes for 1oz silver but with 39mm capsules
  18. If your angle is feeling comfortable you are buying the genuine article, the 1/4 Brit would appear to be the safe bet. If we were in a reputable place and making the choice did not have to take into account any fear over what I was buying being genuine, my decision would have many other factors including year of the sovereign, condition, price per gram etc. But 9 times out of 10 I would go for the sovereign.
  19. Purchases from the weekend that arrived today 6 carded half sovereigns, 4 of which were from @shawy2510 and then 3 boxed half sovereigns including a 2014 (mintage of 9.9k all BU)
  20. If you are putting then in the tube and the tube is stationary I cannot see there being any harm. If you like to handle the gold occasionally (who doesn't ) and are worried jewellers gloves are inexpensive. Condition can affect how easy they are to sell on forums like this (dealers will not care on bullion brits) but as long as your not shaking the tube or dropping them . I personally put all gold in capsules then the capsules in airtite tubes. I even do this with sovereigns which, I admit, is over-kill especially given I have a number of RM tubes which would take up far less space in my storage box.
  21. Here's a Melbourne, excuse my photography skills not a patch on yours
