A lot of the time you are best giving the rm a total body swerve unless you are going to use the CTG limits.
I stick to semi-numi gold typesets, sov bullion stack and certain other silver collections from foreign mints

Yeah bit annoying, I was going to get the series, at least they didn't cost me any more than silver Britannias.

i must be lucky. the one i got from rm was pretty good. i have by no means put it under a microscope and doubt it would get an ms 70 but there were no easily visible marks, scratches or dents. or the m word - yet.

Finally got the replacement back. Now in correct blister pack. My OCD can rest easy haha.
What do you recommend for my next Britannia purchase, go straight to a 1oz or is best to buy fractional sizes?

For some reason I couldn't type or delete on previous msg, @Rob81 was trying to say always worth comparison between RM and other trusted website sellers.

Would love the 1oz gold coin but only just bought a 1/2 oz Britannia.
Good prices on chards. I must start looking at other sellers than my default of the royal mint!

If its a new Royal Mint series, like Robin Hood, Maid Marion and Little John then it will be better than a Maple.

Alas this series has been produced to the very lowest possible bullion standard (terrible scratching and milking) that I think it would be very unlikely to find a good example

It’s really down to your preference.
1oz will mean, in theory lower premiums, but decrease liquidity.
Fractional will mean, in theory higher premiums, but increase liquidity.
Arguably though, if/when you come to resell, if you do so at a fair price point, they’ll likely sell either way, just might take a bit longer selling the 1oz.
What you could find, is that if you do decide to go down the fractional route, then the higher premiums you’ve paid, can be passed on when it comes to selling them on in a private sale, say to someone on TSF. Broadly speaking they’d understand that fractional carry a bit of a higher premium, but as long as they can see it’s still cheaper than a dealer.
Very broad brush advice I know, sorry.
Personally, I’m going down the fractional Brit route., just on the fence between 0.5oz or 0.25oz’s. Though I’ve seen how quickly sovereigns get snapped up on TSF, so if liquidity is something you value highly, then full sovereigns is a very good option. (When I say sovereigns, I mean proper sovereigns from the Royal Mint)

Good shout but I’ve started the returns process now. It would also involve more time to sale and then repurchase. I think the coin is around £30 more than I paid it now so any potential gain would be offset a bit on the current price. Could easily go the other way though I suppose.

Appreciate all the reply everyone. I’ve had a think and I want to get it rectified, mainly for my ocd haha.
I chose the blister pack for my first coin as it’s going to be the last effigy of the queen on a Britannia. I will probably get the matching when the King Charles coin is issued, then switch to buying capsulated Britannia’s post 2021.
I will update, once resolved!
Thanks again, all very helpful

Evening all,
Just received my first purchase of gold, a 2023 1/2 oz Britannia in a blister pack from the Royal Mint.
Quiet pleased with the purchase until I noticed that the back of the blister pack is for a 1/4 oz coin, the info on the back of the blister pack is incorrect and doesn’t show the whole coin as it’s 1/2 oz!
spoke to the royal mint who confirmed they would email me a returns form for an exchange and never received an email!
Not a great start to my journey. Anyone else had these issues before?
Thanks for reading

I'd keep it personally! A rare (!) error. Could be worth a few quid extra to esoteric collectors.
