Not once has anyone asked for proof of ownership from me. With the amount of "best value" sov purchases, that don't specify the coin in any way..i'm not sure what value i'd give to that receipt if i was a dealer. Curious to hear what others say. Was this on a "High value" sale?

Just send the RM this receipt.

If I pop over to Lawrence's in Blackpool I shouldn't be worrying about lack of paperwork? I don't want to replay a scene out of Snatch where I look like a dodgy person with a bag of gold I'm trying to shift and can't think of a convincing answer where I got it. Where's this from? "Um ... I bought it online!" Oh likely story! "No I did look and I've printed out some avatars of people who I bought it from!" No paperwork! 5p an ounce for your cheek!

Sounds like I don't need any paperwork. :)

Snatch? Wasn't that the dodgy looking Jewish guys robbing diamonds with the legend that is Mike Reid fencing?

  3. Someone will always buy it.

A pawnbroker like Ramsdens as an example will want proof of who YOU are when buying stuff. They can legitimately record they bought X off of Mr/Mrs Y. If Mr/Mrs Y acquired the item from nefarious means that is not their problem.

Receipts are meaningless. Unless trying to take faulty electronics etc. etc. back for replacement...

Still don't know why you will be selling to a dealer?

Good call.  I don’t by coins with male Monarchs.

What if Charlie dons a sparkly frock and identifies as Shirley on Saturdays?

Sadly I can't afford the lofty heights of £0, my bank balance has developed those mysterious dashes in front of the numbers again.

My bank would be convinced me bank transferring £0 was a scam and get the tar and feathers out again :(

  6. Despite BBP being at the higher end of the pricing scale they have been very very busy for some time - which shows price isn't putting punters off or punters don't perform an abundance of research.

My last big purchase from them was a stack of Queens Beast gold completers, for which I was very happy at paying only £25 per coin more than a Brit. Some pricing is very fair.

  7. WisdomTree have physical gold and physical silver funds.

Look at past performance and you will find it very closely reflects the prices of gold and silver.

You should be able to hold these in pretty much any SIPP.

I have a significant percentage of my pension in both of these funds.

This would potentially resolve your dilemma.

From your list if sticking with your original plan I would commend Bullion By Post for their integrity. Not the cheapest, don't pretend to be either.

Perhaps, but there can be problems on all platforms, and I don't feel comfortable sending bullion without being paid first.

Members here will use the  excuse that I don't have enough history (even though I've sold 2 or 3 pieces here).

Also, nobody here will pay as much as eBayers for bullion, so it's good until it isn't 😂

Not that I've used him, but BYB acting as an intermediary should give you some comfort.

  9. I know the Krug isn't the prettiest coin - though I confess to liking the simplicity - they are usually obtainable at the lowest premium of any gold coin in my - admittedly limited - experience.

Chards currently are trading them at a 2.45% premium for a random year of their choosing. Their cheapest Brit is a new Charlie at 3.75% premium.

Probably more easily shifted if you stuff them in your pockets and wander overseas too.

    praying to Broccoli.

I think you've hit on a great money making opportunity here... no such thing as a poor religion after all.

And Broccoli can be thanked for it's tasty goodness, as opposed to thanking fictitious characters in c**p stories.
