  1. Nice idea to have date run for young head halfpenny and penny, I am trying to do so for the pennies, but don't know if able to achieve apart from 1860. For 1860 penny or halfpenny, I give up already 😅. Some others, like 1843, 1849, 1856 penny and 1843-1852 halfpenny, are scarce but not totally impossible. I am still waiting for some of them to appear in right price. For latest pricing, auction prices at London Coins and DNW can give you some ideas about pricing and grading. Since I am not residing in UK, I am unable to attend coin fairs or sales across the country which there may have bargains to come up.
  2. Yes, some of the Victoria young head pennies are crazily in price. To me, the 1860 is unable to reach. I had bid for 1849 penny before which i think was in reasonable price, but failed. I tried to achieve a date run (except 1860), but few are still outstanding at this moment. How about your Victorian pennies now? Not to go forward for this collection?
  3. If details are good, then better to leave it. Natural patina and toning add charisma and charm to a coin, i believe.
  4. No, i didn't try to clean any coin, no matter it's silver or copper. I only have it comes across my mind for my 1887 halfcrown, which seems a bit dirty. Since I am not experience enough about cleaning, I will either take to my friend's coin shop asking for his assistance, or leave it, or sell it. If you really want to try cleaning, I suggest not to do with your 1841 halfpenny. Try in very low grade first, as I see some copper or bronze coins are in weird color after cleaning.
  5. I do think there is market for penny, especially young head. As long as pricing is reasonable, Victoria pennies are popular in auction. Maybe copper n bronze are not main stream in this forum only.
  6. I am collecting pre-decimal as well, and yea, it will be addictive, haha....i used to refer to London Coins n DNW for pricing, though sometimes auction prices are unreasonable, but at least you have a reference. By the way, there are many many variants for Victorian pennies, i use Gouby site n allcoinsvalue.com for some guides. You will find it's very interesting n funny through these variants.
  7. Agree with you, Numista is a great site. I will also have a look at allcoinsvalue.com to have a rough estimation of pricing, though not as accurate as spink book mentioned by other members. Also, will refer to London Coins n DNW for latest trend in pricing.
  8. Yes, it is super crazy for 2009 Kew Gardens, and you can't get 1 in major auction with less than 100 pounds plus premium. For 1992 EU, it's with even less mintage, but price is much less than Kew.
  9. For those high relief, color seems a bit too orange in my phone. Don't know if it is down to my phone or photo shooting lighting.
  10. Any idea why the color look bit weird? Heavy clean or just photo lighting?
  11. Thank you for the link. But I need to save some money for the upcoming Nov n Dec launch... For the 2021, I just checked and it was also bought with around 4% premium. Although it was brand new directly from a dealer, it has a scratch on cheek which I didn't notice. Maybe I was too excited at that moment, what a lesson learnt😭
  12. No matter which 1 comes first, need to work super hard in Nov and Dec, as both shall come before turn of the year.
  13. Me too, I like the design too. If it's like what you said 1% over Britannia, I will choose Royal Arms as well. However, those 2019 and 2020 seems now well over the 1% benchmark😭
  14. Only 2021 quoted mintage of 5k per Royal Mint site, while it's not mentioned for other years.
  15. Is it only 2021 with mintage number?
  16. The price of 1936 is too good to be true😅. Btw, this seller (with many different names) has been discussed in another forum. He/She found so many 1933 penny in past few years, I think he/she must be super rich right now😅
  17. @dickerThank you for your comparison, it's very useful. Learning never ends. By the way, upper serif of right leg of N on obverse are not sharp in the fake one as well.
  18. Agree it is possibly down to scratch or crush
  19. Yes, there are many fake coins in the coins mall, but mainly are Chinese coins. Maybe due to high price for these Chinese coins and market is there for potential buyers. For bars, I didn't notice any fake there, maybe not popular here.
  20. I wanna buy some magnets now...will your shop sell it or as a gift with purchase for certain sum of soveriegns😆?
  21. Haha, they must copy the fact sheet from somewhere else, but forget to change the data. Copy, copy n copy😅
  22. Colourised coin is not my cup of tea
  23. Congratulation pricha, with no problem after all. Wish you enjoy the soveriegns.
  24. For 1933 Penny, I know it's fake without any doubt, because I know I won't meet it at whatever price in my life😅
