Okay, so a rather empty update, but an update nevertheless
 
Having emailed NGC with three questions, does NGC have a contingency plan for a significant disruption to operations, Is the insurance policy subject to delays such as long term storage in the event of such disruptions and would NGC return ungraded coins where possible or store them long term...
Initially, I received a response from NGC UK on Monday only to say they were looking into the concerns and would return with more information. This was followed up today with the following:
 
We currently do not have any information on this situation, regarding NGC and these uncertain times,
 Please note that NGC does not have any operations near the conflict.
 If the situation changes and may impact our operations, we will share any information with our customer via our website and e-mail list.
 
I appreciate the efforts of the NGC UK staff trying to gain further information. I can only assume that those in charge have no contingency plan for emergencies and do not intend to create one as they deem it unnecessary. This may be because they do not feel any need to consider any significant disruption. Although in fairness, such a policy may create doubts in the minds of customers and perhaps best avoided from a business perspective. 
Having gone straight from global pandemic to Russia / NATO conflict, I'm not sure that is a good stance, but that's how it is.
I have asked for some clarity on whether the insurance policy is subject to delays, since no information on this was provided. I'll update if/when they respond

Yes. I have a coin sent for grading and I am concerned it may targeted by Russian forces. I have emailed the Kremlin informing them that if I don't get it back, then Putin owes me a proof 50p!
 
 
Seriously though, I've just asked them (NGC, not KGB) if they have a contingency plan for escalating conflict (perhaps to return coins before shutting services down), and/or if the insurance cover is subject to delays for potentially long-term storage. Hopefully get a response soon...

It's an important point you make. I suspect most people aren't interested in it.

I apologise sincerely to the other members of the forum on the gold £ thread for going off topic.

I think I can say for most of us that I couldn’t care less what what the gold price is currently given the recent news.
If that power plant ‘goes up’ we can forget feeling comfortable in Britain. I despair at what’s happening on our continent. Utterly despair.
I couldn’t care less how much my PM’s have gone up in the past week. I’d much rather see peace.

I didn’t either- in fact, when I first saw it I dubbed it akin to like what you would see as a ‘funeral coin’ or death commemorative!  but it grew on me and I took the plunge.
I didn’t take the lid off the capsule on my 5oz, but at some point I will and take an angled snap of the relief on it.

It does look far better in the flesh, judging by these photos.

Cap Open, and I think I definitely fingered it trying to correct it.
It's going back and I will be cancelling my continuation order.
I have had enough of open capsules.
No pussy jokes. I already thought about it, and thought better of it!

Latest additions to the proof sovereign and half sovereign date run.  Off to grading soon.

I was expecting the Tudor Beasts Lion today, but was pleasantly surprised to get the Gothic Crown Portait 5oz silver. Only waiting for the 10oz now.
I am very pleased with it so far. Not had the Loupe out yet though.
There seems to be something about these larger silvers. Small things such as less dust inside the capsules, the packaging, the larger coin helps the design imo. They just seem better quality.

Just spent 20 minutes opening ALL of the boxes, what a pain!
I didn't receive them all today, but the 10oz portrait yesterday, and the 5oz portrait a few days back.
The set finally complete.
Now to put them all back in the boxes....

I the depth of the strike on some of these coins is just something else entirely.

Indeed @NewCoins.  The stock images of these coins sometimes do make them look flat.
Compare the stock image of the gold version vs the actual coin.

That’s a gorgeous coin. John Bergdahl is one of the only RM designers (besides ex Jody Clark) whose designs are reminiscent of the intricate and detailed ones done by the 19th century engravers.
John Bergdahl also did the sixpence design which is lovely.
The other RM designers don’t come close - not even Timothy Noad. Although his 2022 Sovereign design is fine, it lacks detail and intricacy, and seems so simple, like he didn’t even need to “design” it; they could have just based the coin on any of the numerous versions of the Royal Coat of Arms already out there.
John Bergdahl is a bold designer. The other is Gary Breeze.
