    I commented several months ago that I believe as the Shanghai trades the most physical gold, with an ever increasing number of countries using that to convert Russian oil money and similar genuine trades;
    eventually LBMA & Comex prices will no longer be the genuine value measure with so much gold now held and still flowing into the east - with more notional trades in a day than physical in a year, be nice for the manipulation to finally be stifled.

    Where do they get the feed from and which market? London, New York, and definitely Shanghai will have different prices at the close. I’d guess RMint have a London price and other dealer a US price. Only a guess. Shanghai price always much higher atm.

    Amen, and it will get there, but what will the world look like when that happens?

    Will we be surrounded by abandoned cars and houses falling apart because people can't afford upkeep etc?
    This is the fear I have that when this "moons" the world will have gone to sh**

    (By moons, I mean that relatively everything else has gone down the drain)

    Dave is right. I have checked on the more detailed chart and the £1619 is a flat line from the close on Friday, so I'm afraid I was getting mildly excited about nothing!

    It may not mean much (except to its own retail prices for the time being), but the price chart on the Royal Mint site shows £1619 (fix taken exactly an hour ago) whereas other dealers still show £1614 i.e. Friday's close. For once the Mint would appear to be ahead of the game. Presumably the higher price is taken from the markets in the Far East or Australia?

    Many guys on her are already using me…..I don’t scream too loudly as I want to control who I sell coins to if you know what I mean, I have and can move volumes more via eBay and FB but I have zero tolerance with some those sorts of people you open yourself up to, I’d rather deal with fewer more decent folks like us here.

    1908 Frederick VIII of Denmark Gold 10 Kroner Coin in vintage Gen 13 NGC MS 64 slab very much proof like
    £240 posted to your door special
    https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces26769.html
    Spot is around £208 at time of posting so when you add the cost of grading and the fact its an MS64 example it's well priced in my opinion
    If you don't like slabs take a pair of pliers to it and snap it out

    I have to agree, their grading of shields is awful, they tend to be more concerned with fields than the actual detail. I have seen some graded as MS63 with no lions faces left!

    Over the last decade, gold has increased at 9% annually; although I obviously try and buy dips, sometimes you bite the bullet at higher price/s to complete a set/run/whatever.
    With so many bigger global issues and those growing and compounding almost daily currently - I don't think this will alter Gold current course.
    Best reason to reduce UK taxes I can think of given IMF track record.
    Whatever you can relatively easily afford without stressing your other commitments,
    and also if you require high liquidity, because your potentially in-out-in out  of PM's instead of just holding for the longer term.
    Totally agree, I love the sight of a tray of meatier 1oz coins, plus there's a buyer for everything in my experience, I do however flip Krugs/AGE's and similar due to CGT implications;
    most of my 1/4 oz are either proofs when they were at bullion prices, or potentially premium noteworthy coins in the future.

    The last I heard the CCP was planning on making only certain Chinese investors whole, while leaving international investors to lose 100% of their capital. Evergrande is a mess, the entire real estate industry in China is a mess, but if the CCP chooses to burn the international investors then a lot of rich people are going to be pissed off by that. Why would you invest in China if your money is not secure or you can't get your money out of the country?

    Gold is supposed to be the hedge against the digital/paper financial markets and against inflation. If you own physical gold the daily/weekly spot price is irrelevant
    Gold in USD traditionally returns inflation + 5% and depending what sources and time period you care to use, gold was up 13.5-14.5% in 2023, so there's your 10% a year
    Gold has never dropped 30-40% and remained at that price to my knowledge. You can see there was a blip between 2011-2015 when gold did technically lose 25-30% (peak to trough) but that was off the back of a major bull run. The price then recovered that 25-30% in 2016 and continued its upwards climb ever since

    It MIGHT be possible to pick time ranges from absolute peak to absolute trough where gold lost 30% but if you're holding gold for 10 years+ like you should be, I'm going to say it's impossible to lose 30%. Since we went off the global USD gold standard in 1971, gold is headed in one direction - UP. That was before they started printing money as a lifestyle choice. The value of gold is changing (going up) relative to the global population and living standards, but the majority of gold's price increase is due to $, £, € losing value. The more debt they create the higher gold (and silver) will go. If there's such a thing as a sure thing in financial markets, then gold going up over the long-term is that certainty

    I'm not convinced by it. When ounce coins reach 3k the fiat will have further devalued to the point that 3k feels like £1.5k currently does. In real terms, no difference.

    Special delivery, in my opinion, is seller responsibility until goods are delivered. If you choose lesser then it’s on you as a buyer but if paying for SD then should not be at your risk as a buyer
