HillWalkerDundee got a reaction from James32 in US National Debt Clock
I hadn't noticed this before but, on the US National Debt Clock (https://www.usdebtclock.org/), a collection of frightening statistics, paper versus physical metals have appeared.
The paper to physical metals ratios are displayed.
Silver: 225:1
Gold: 129:1
There are several other PM stats on the clock. Well worth a read.

I am stacking silver as an insurance policy. People have car insurance, home insurance, life insurance etc. We buy them as a just in case of disaster happening. So it is with silver (and gold for that matter). It is just personal preference as to what PMs and denominations we hold.

You are probably right financially but, to me, silver is a thing of beauty. I don't get that same buzz with gold. Pleasure has a cost.

Money is kind of like energy, it doesn't get used, it gets converted. Spending cash by buying silver or gold is not losing money, simply converting it to another form.

That is what i expected to see. The OP's photo seems to be museum quality. But, as i said, this is way out of my knowledge zone.

When I look at the content of this thread I despair. I despair for the kids future. I despair for the should have beens, could have beens had schools and parents were knowledgeable enough to have prepared us for the financial aspects of life.

You'd think the 2008 financial crisis and the 2020 T-virus outbreak would have woken people up, but, NO!
It's like these people want to live in denial, still trusting politicians, 10pm news anchors, day time TV hosts, etc.

HillWalkerDundee reacted to DadsPreciousMetals in Silver Bullion & Jewelry
Hey it's been a while since I've been on. I just wanted to let the community know about my page on youtube where I talk about all things gold and silver related and recently started making fine silver and sterling silver jewelry. The bracelet and ring in the picture were crafted out of fine silver by yours truly! Thanks for showing your support. If you make videos on youtube send me link to your page so I can check them out! I love all things related to precious metals and would love to show my support also. My youtube page is the same name as this one. Have a great day.

HillWalkerDundee reacted to MBTPSilver in VAT on Silver in the UK
It's normally the current value of the silver, though I'm unsure if that means the spot value, or what it would currently cost to buy the product with premium. I believe the latter.

3 year old thread, but relevant and fresh as ever, especially with CGT limits being reduced aggressively now
My view is that nothing good can come from volunteering information to 'authorities' thinking that "I've got nothing to hide"
They are greedy corporations intent on grabbing, confiscating and extorting (for the common good of course!)
The less they know about one's circumstances, the better. They make up 'rules' as they go, expecting the serfs to declare and share their 'profits'. Let's ignore the excessive inflation they've created and pretend is not there and refuse to even apply the fake CPI if it doesn't suit them.
Volunteering information implies decency, fairness and good faith.

Probably programs like can't pay, won't pay. Too many playing the the system of paying for a few months and then nothing.
My advice for anyone contemplating this, rent your rental property out to the council on a three years term. Slightly less money per month, but guaranteed payment. They are also responsible for everyday maintenance during that period.

HillWalkerDundee reacted to Bratnia in BullionVault - Opinions & Storage Pros/Cons
When the US compulsory purchased gold in America (1934) individuals still had the option to use the gold sale proceeds to buy silver instead, or nowadays controls could perhaps be circumvented via the likes of bitcoin/crypto, money moved outside of the country and gold purchased elsewhere. Similar to how a 1934 American whose gold was compulsory purchased could have bought/stored gold in London or Switzerland. More just the inconvenience of having to incur trade cost and time/effort. Someone else has a number on their screen, you still have gold. If anything such government actions as compulsory purchases, currency controls, punitive taxation levels ... are a pretty clear indicator that keeping/moving gold elsewhere is more inclined to be the better overall choice compared to having a number on a screen.
