Thanks for sharing! Do you put the coins in a display box? I'm trying to find a box with 45mm capsule slots that fit 8 coins.

That is my plan. It's on my to-do list for a while now. Like you, when i can get around to it i will do some searching for a possible 8 piece box. I have a feeling it might take some hunting. They are simply too nice not to have them in a good display box, even if i end up having to get a bespoke one made.

Hi fellow collectors I just got my complete set of eight coins as well as the auto and winged dragon coins in the new series.  Love the excellent finish on the coins!  My favourite is the second coin, Reverse Dragon.  For the guys who bought single coins do you remove the coin from the plastic sheet? Was thinking of getting a display box for the set of eight.

Yes, speaking for myself, i removed the plastic wrap. It isn't a collectible significance in my opinion to leave this intact unlike some other series.

When i was buying them i wanted to see the wrap intact but this was to assure myself the coins had not been picked over for grading purposes first. Having got them in the wraps i am now happy to remove them and enjoy them in a display as they should be.

Ups having a terrible delivery service.

I now collect my stuff from there sorting office.

One less middle middleman and that's usually when it goes missing at that end of the journey.

I'm in Ireland too. UPS are the best courier in my region. Drivers always ring me, and if i'm not at home they ask where i'm working and come deliver to me there.

Looking good. :) Shame about the crappy coin capsules though. You'd think for a coin of that value, Apmex would have their business together better.

Makes me wonder whether it'll be the same for me when I'm getting my two 5oz Queen Annes from Auragentum in a week or two, but if those are coming from Apmex too...

Don't worry too much for now, some of the more customer conscious dealers are well aware of Apmex grading practices, the removal of all coins from the Perth capsules for sorting, and the lack of respect for the rejected stock. So depending on what they see, some dealers might have suitable replacement capsules on hand to pop the coin in. If you're lucky. Often, they won't want to receive a complaint themselves as though it was them who got dust on the coin and damaged the capsule. The high premium profit margin on a coin like this makes it worth their while doing this if needs be. Good luck with yours, and well done getting two!

Sorry for the crappy pics, I'll take some better ones tonight with a proper camera.  I'm kind of surprised at how s****** the plastic capsules that APMEX sent these in with, I'll be sending them an email about that....  Lots of scratches on the plastic and some dust on the coins, presumably when they were repackaged.

    5oz-Front.thumb.jpg.3f58c25af6c7b95ca6f3f1660683c10e.jpgPirates-Front.thumb.jpg.62a546544dac754391951472d99d0a90.jpgPirates-Back.thumb.jpg.fe0d74b51e37881af221fb1f7a6bbf80.jpg

Yes, the capsules get thrown aside, and the dust is the usual aftermath of their removing the coins to sort through.

OH, it makes no sense to talk bad things about APMEX or the Black Flag series. Do you really believe that anybody has the time to look at 500 BU coins ? 😎

    I don`t believe that.

I also believe that a grading of a modern coin in BU is nonsense because I can see no difference between  69 und 70 Gradings with my eyes!

When you see something else you have good eyes and a microscope that makes things 5 times greater than they are in real life!

Gradings of modern coins are overpriced nonsense. The coins of Perth are all top quality and when you get a 5 oz silvercoin for over 220 Euro with milkspots or scratches you can send it back to the dealer. That`s it. You can see; there is no problem

    lol

    super! whatever you say

I have seen 69 graded coins and 70 Gradings. Can`t see any difference with my eyes. When I get a MS 70 Graded for the price of a non graded coin mabe it is ok. Bus I miss the package and the certificate. Grading of Bullion coins is nonsense. When you want the Black Flag "Queen Annes Revenge" in 70 Grading you have to pay the price for it at APMEX. So what do you want to tell us? I think you meen also that the price for 70 graded Coins is to high ?  Thank you!

What do i mean to tell you? I thought i was fairly clear. Original Perth-mint-issued no longer applies when Apmex control the stock. They are all opened, removed and handled. It's an added interference between the time the mint send them out, to when you eventually own one. It's a factor and a chance you take when deciding what to pay for collector bullion, from dealers who won't do returns or exchange.

I made no opinions on the practice of grading or the collectors for them or the prices they go for. Each to their own.

  9. As much as i would like to have this in a 65mm version, when price heads toward €300 i have to say no too.

The biggest question is the human element, and i have to ask myself is "am i certain my coin will be as perfect as the mint sent it out"? In a 200 price range i am willing to take that chance. Much greater than that, i can't. For the simple reason the entire stock goes to Apmex first, and from them an allocation to each dealer w/wide. After they have gone through the stock. The fact is, in the days before listing yesterday, Apmex will have already sifted and sorted through the entire stock gathering their choices for grading. This involves removing all coins from the mint capsules. And yes, they certainly will have. How those rejected for grading are handled before getting popped back into the capsules becomes the chance you take on the coin you eventually receive from whichever dealer. Make no mistake, these are the ones that get distributed.

That's not to say there will be anything wrong with them, far from it - they are Perth issued which gives them the best possible chance, even having gone through handling. But everyone knows these still fall into the category of strictly bullion regardless of purchase price, and depending on who you deal with there is often little recourse if you get one that happens to have a mark or graze. Food for thought when paying proof prices for bullion.

Glad the start is slow and gradual - it will allow the teething problems to be sorted before the debit card is released and the roll out begins and there really is 6.2 tonnes.

Oh absolutely agree, personally i am expecting it to pass that figure within several weeks.

Teething issues are normal on any new platform, you have to launch to identify and iron out. Slow and steady is good, i'm delighted with the whole platform and just feeling my way gently around it, for now.

It started off as one thing And now it’s morphed into something else.....that apparantly ain’t crypto. Won’t they need a banking license then..........

why not just deliver what they said they would deliver....then add the bells and whistles.

oh wow. You think people who are unbanked as in the majority of Indonesia for one example, means they are unsophisticated? Launch day today - the masses are on Telegram waiting for the announcement - they say there will be a new look website today and the Exchange will kick off.

About 1500 more KVT's issued today so probably there will be a little over 10k unsold KVT's of the 210k KVT's. A good deal of KAU and KAG's minted so there is just short of 6.25 tonnes of gold (more than the reserves of Ireland) and 11.25 tonnes of silver backing the present coins - this should ramp up significantly when the Exchange opens and minting steps up a few gears.

isn't it just under 61 Kilo's of gold minted at the moment? Soon to be way more of course.

  13. Thanks @sixgun , great info as usual. Yes i had seen something briefly one day on the telegram group about not having the final registration through, but that Tom Coughlin mentioned backup jurisdictions are in reserve. We will wait to see.

Your advice to hold off on adding extra kvt's for the moment is good to know, actually. It ties in with my slightly stronger feeling anyway that i was happy with the qty i decided on two months ago, despite the temptation right now to add a couple extra. Do you think it likely news on the IoM status will come before the KVT sale period is up?

Well done on the Ambassador group. I can well imagine the discussions are interesting!

  14. Hi @sixgun. A long overdue thanks for mentioning Kinesis several months back. Been lurking anytime Kinesis has been mentioned, since.

Piqued my own interest enough to really look into it. After doing a lot of reading, liking the team behind it, liking the practicalities it brings and solves, and pouring through the in depth blueprint, i picked up a handful of KVT a couple of months ago. Currently developing my own plan for how i want to allocate when i begin using the currency full-on, on a daily basis. Not in the big leagues by any means, just KAU & KAG for me (none of the "W"! :)) but i look forward to using it as my everyday currency as soon as we launch - online, down the shops, on hols, etc. Most likely even use it to buy my coins from dealers!

Finding myself at a crossroads at the moment. I'm not in the least bit asking for advise of course, i wouldn't put anyone in that position, you would rightly point blank refuse anyway. But i think i can simply ask you if you have had a similar dilemma as me. I intend to eventually use all sides - pre-ico minter, post ico depositor as regular future usage, and as a holder for savings. I'm finding myself looking at my minting portion for the pre-ico yields and wondering if i shouldn't divert a little bit of that into added kvt instead. But with the kvt being the primary risk, and the KAU/KAG being allocated bullion no matter what happens down the road, here is where i find the dilemma. I will almost certainly stick with my current entry plan on both kvt and minter.... but it is quite tempting to add a couple more kvt. So, yeah, just curious if you have had a firm course set and unchanging all along, or find yourself at some point shuffling a bit from here to over there and back again.

    Hi swAgger

What do you mean by stir things up?

This is not a joke I lost a lot of money so have many others.

The comments  are copied and pasted from my in box. They are the replies I got from Dios after numerous request for some proof that the coins were actually sent.

When I notified him what I had been sent. He did not Even ask to see the contents of the shipment, and failed to show any concern at all.

He said I can contact DHL if you like. Is he serious. or taking the pi**

    I made the following requests.

I asked for a telephone number so I could contact him regarding my order.

No response to my request you would expect some professional response taking into account that over three grand in coins had not been delivered.

I asked for a packing video

I asked for proof of shipment to the correct address that could be verified and confirmed.

Proof of the insurance claim that could be verified and confirmed

I asked for the emails to be forwarded from DHL or the insurance.

All requests were ignored and not addressed.

If there was an insurance claim I would be one of the first to be contacted.

At the end of the day People like myself have sent him thousands of pounds and not received the coins we ordered it is the responsibility of the seller to deliver the goods.

Dios failed to deliver the coins this is on record with the police UK Mail and video evidence of the package delivered.

For months Andreas claimed that chasing the claim up would slow things down. He did not make contact unless I contacted him

Once I told him I did not believe a word he said as there was nothing to confirm what he had said. Not one pice of solid evidence.

That is when the insults started.

The German state police are involved and there is an ongoing investigation and they have the emails. The meta data from the emails revealed  a lot of info.

South Wales police have also been involved.

Calm yourself, ok. We are trying to be supportive here, has that not come across to you? I did not hint that anyone was stirring things up. Who's joking around? Nobody. I was referencing adding a theory to stir into the mix to the numerous in the thread already wondering about the real stories and facts of the individuals at dios.

Glad to hear you have taken it to the authorities. Goodbye and good luck.

  16. Well, here's one more theory to throw in and give a good stir. Perhaps Friedhelm is and was everything we all found him to be years back, a true gent. Perhaps this Andres is his son, as someone mentioned above. Perhaps F ran the show and handled all communications for a good reason, and was being literal when he said his son didn't have good english. Perhaps F was covering, that time Danny emailed him. And perhaps for the last couple of years he has lost control of the ...er.... situation on the dios home-front.

Whatever. I didn't read through those quotes Quicksilver posted above - i had to look away. I truly believe there is enough there in those emails to make a report of hate crime to the German authorities.

Edit; provided you never replied in-kind, of course

maybe Andres is the son, maybe he doesn't exist, maybe Friedhelm doesn't exist, maybe it was all a con to start with? The Dr title to gain respectability, the disabled son to gain sympathy etc?

    Yep, real doctor;

    FWK Trade & Research Enterprises

    Address: Bahnhofstr. 17

    Commercial Register: HRA3741

Job description: Trade in - as well as research and development of (generic) chemical products of argrar chemistry (such as herbicides, insecticides, fungicides) biopharmaceuticals, industrial and laboratory equipment).

I meant to add earlier, him mentioning his disabled son was never an attempt to gain sympathy. He would only mention it in passing when you had been an established customer for a while, and had a bit of rapport going. As i said, he used to offer advice if asked, and answer any questions you had about certain coins coming, and about the mints, general stuff. There would come a point where you had a question that he genuinely couldn't answer and he would explain his situation that he himself is not a dealer by trade, and why he had set the coin business up with his son.

My last email from Friedhelm was May 2015 and he did have a website around that time as well. In fact I don't think I ever dealt with him when he didn't.

My last contact was 2014, last purchase by email to Friedhelm, web site wasn't long operational, i think. The purchases i made during some 18 months before that, there was no site and it was all done by email. Email about some new coins due out, he would come back with a quote and estimate on stock arrival, you'd either go for it or not. That sort of way.

Yeah, i didn't say anything before because i don't like not having all the facts, generally. But something in the back of my mind has Andres as an uncle. And i genuinely don't know why i thought that, for certain. So please don't take it as fact. Sons name was Paco as far as i recall....?

As for the existence of all concerned, and what story is real. I do believe all that i knew about Friedhelm and his son was true. There was no con in any form back in the days before the web site began. They were a small outfit who gained loyal customers through word of mouth, and proud of it and proud to serve and assist their customers. Something seems to have gone very odd in the last 4 years since the web site began. And as i haven't been a customer once in that time, i really couldn't guess at what, or even who has actual control of it now.

I don’t know how to post a link unfortunately however if you enter dios in the search bar you will find one of the conversations dated 18th March 2016

Wow. I just read the whole of that thread started by Heisenberg. Don't know what to make of it now. But glad to see i am not the only one who remembered a different experience years ago. Very surprised when someone, was it Danny?, emailed Friedhelm and didn't get quite the response he expected. And that was 2016? So he didn't step away from the business in the end.

    Very weird.

Speaking of Heisenberg, seems to me the guy behind those disgusting hate messages might be a bit fond of the blue crystal!

  21. Have to admit i am genuinely shocked to hear this about "Dios", and how it has gone to the dogs. Worse even. This is not the company i used to know when i last bought from them.

I don't know who this Andres is or when he arrived on the scene, but it can only be in recent years. Let me give a bit of background.

Many years back i used to buy coins from a guy called Friedhelm Koenig. An absolute gent. He always had time to discuss a coin you were thinking of buying, going into the pros and cons of a series, etc. He is a doctor, actually, not a coin dealer. But back then he set up a small family dealership mostly to help his son, who had disabilities, to have an interest, independence, and business activity. I always bought and chatted directly through email (there was no online site at that time) from Friedhelm. His son didn't have much english so Friedhelm was always the contact for customers outside of Germany. Friedhelm had a great reputation in Europe and even had many happy customers in Australia. The time came when he and his son set up the site, and shortly after Friedhelm said it was now time for him to step away from the coin business. I got the impression he was moving away as part of his own profession, but it's a while ago so i can't quite remember. So the setting up of the site largely got around the language barrier for his son. Customers from anywhere could just buy off the site instead of email. Around this time i was branching off to many dealers anyway, as you do. You come and go from different dealers over time. So it happens that the very last time i bought from Dios, although still through email to Friedhelm, was in 2014 i see from my spreadsheet.

What on earth has happened within dios since then i have no idea. But i'm astounded to hear some of the things here today. Especially those disgusting messages from this Andres character.

What a shame. That certainly isn't the legacy Friedhelm would have wished to see.

EDIT: i'm almost positive i may have Friedhelm's email address archived on an old pc. Half tempted to get in touch and enquire what has happened...... but, could be a touchy subject best left alone.
