Unsure of this sovereign

Recommended Posts

The blank looks to be misaligned, so the edge changes in thickness.  The coin is ever so slightly oval when check with digital callipers. The edge feels slightly smooth to my untrained hands. I think if it wasn’t off-centre, I wouldn’t have taken such a close look at it. Weighs right, size is right (apart from being slightly oval). Tests fine in sigma

Just now, Sovhead said:

Different aspects make it right and some don’t I’m going for a mint error but genuine.

I'm leaning towards mint error, but I'm not experienced at all. Bought recently on TSF and trust the seller, but he hadn't spotted anything. I spotted it straight away

Looks genuine to me. Just standard Royal Mint quality. if one was going to fake a modern sovereign, it would not be 2004
