Im doing Queens beasts bullion and Tudor Beasts bullion and proof.

The Queens Beasts come along on here regularly so just grab one as and when.

Tudor beasts are a new series and can be easily caught up on if they take your fancy.

AaaGee

Thanks for the reply, Queens beasts are definitely one I’ve been looking into starting.

There are plenty of other series out there but im pretty new to this so essentially sticking to the collections that are popular and easy to find when i go looking. Good luck with whatever you choose 👍

i took a look at Atkinsons silver the other day, just to look. i saw they were stocking rounds from Mason Mint which i didn't know anything about before but i like the designs.

As mentioned you need to have something you can get hold of at reasonable prices. i might mention coins that are nice and i can get in the EU but just aren't a thing in the UK.

Anyway Mason Mint. Here is Mason Mint Mythical Cities Series: Asgard 1oz Silver Round.

Mason Mint Mythical Cities Series: Asgard 1oz Silver Round   Mason Mint Mythical Cities Series: Asgard 1oz Silver Round

Here's another - but not a mythical cities series

Mason Mint Blackbeard 1oz Silver Round   Mason Mint Blackbeard 1oz Silver Round

Both sides of the rounds have an interesting design - i could see these getting collectible.

Honestly matey, there are literally scores of sets you can collect... an easy one is pandas but some years are harder than others.

Other sets that are or can be difficult are the black flag series

Lunars from either RM, Perth mint or RAM (Royal Australia Mint), can be good also but I prefer the RAM version over the Perth version, then of course the lunars can be done with Rwanda and Bhutan.... both great designs too

Germania Mint sets are fab too...... great quality and superb detail

just do some research and get amongst it all, its great

I'm collecting Royal Mint Queen's Beasts, City Views, and Australia Swan and Dolphin series.  Starting slowly and you will know what actually you like in longer run.  There are many interesting and lovely designs in the market, however i don't have deep pocket to grab all😅.

Kookaburras!

Maybe not the type of collectable you're after as Kooks are just bullion. I like them though and they're relatively cheap

Buy whatever designs give you the most joy. Part of the joy for me is not losing my shirt when I buy something

There are many things I'd love but can't justify the premiums. I wanted to buy the RM Gothic Crown Quartered Arms 2oz-2kilo, I think those are some of the most exquisite coins around. Look at the prices though even for a 2oz version:

2021 Great Engravers Gothic Crown 2 oz Silver Coin | Chards

Meanwhile folks have struggled to sell them on TSF for less than half that price even when graded

People have paid £9K for 2 kilos of silver:

2021 The Royal Mint's Gothic Crown Great Engravers Series (chards.co.uk)

If you don't mind losing money then follow your heart and buy whatever makes it flutter. If you want to keep your shirt then be ruthless with premiums. Anything more than double spot let alone 10x + spot is a highly speculative investment. Some of them go to the moon, most of them sell for less than half RRP after a few years

Mind is primary and mass-energy is derivative

Looking to start a new silver series collection what is recommended or what do you guys personally like?

Germania - Knights of the Past, Valkyries, the new Thinkers, Intercosmos possibly.

Le Grand Mint - Goddess Durga, plus loads of rather pricey proofs.  Take a look at anything designed by Carmen Testa.

Anything by Perth Mint - Legends, Lunar, Kooks, Emu, Koala etc.  Kangaroos in gold - you could possibly do 1/4 or 1/10.

U.S. Mint's Liberty series has some crackers, but gold only as far as I can tell.

Pressburg Mint's designs are a bit love-or-hate and the strike is kind of mediocre, but stuff like Chronos or Opus are pretty unique.

Somalia's wildlife series - Elephants, Cheetah etc.

CIT do a bunch of stuff, but at a price.

Maybe see what the next batch of RM Legends looks like.

Royal Canadian Mint do some collectible series.

If you can find them, Muenze Osterrich's Maria Theresa commemorative series (about 4 coins).  Nice, high relief proof 20 euros.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

The current series I’m collecting - that are still relatively new and easy to get the back dated coins are Perth Mint 1oz Dragon bar coins (started 2018), Tudor Beasts 2oz bullion silver and the Zombucks (just been the Pandamonium and Kookaburried so far).

Got a couple of the dragon years, what mint are Zombucks ?

If it weren't for my current personal situation, I'd get you started on some winners.

But let me leave some advice.
First and maybe won't go over well but - stay away from Royal Mint if you intend to sell on. I've been looking through past sets from them and they are almost all spotted. Real shame.
Stay away from high mintage sets. Anything over 50,000 total mintage will bring a lesser return.
Get comments and reviews on strikes. In other words, how clear is the image? How much detail is in the background and foreground?
Off the top of my head - Can't go wrong with Perth Mint and Royal Australian Mint as long as you like the subject matter.
Pressburg Mint has awesome designs but the bullion version are not struck very well so buy the proof-like
Germania Mint has awesome quality but I'm afraid I'm not too keen on their direction (Runes and Witchcraft series - not into the demonic)
There are tons of U.S. small mints doing awesome work, but again, watch the strikes and buy them legally !
New Zealand Mint (mostly Niue legal tender) - not so good on strikes. Compare the DC Superheros with Perth Mint Marvel Series)
Fiji Legal Tender - a bit more pricey but Oh My (see my Cat on a recent post) - they are usually sealed as well as encapsulated.
China government coins - politics aside - best coins you can get. Super quality and design.
KOMSCO and Today Ltd. South Korea is on fire! New series from KOMSCO - Princess Series - get them !
There is more but would take too ling to write, lol

Quick word on condition -
Patina and toning - This is where you see colours from yellow and browns to purple to dark brown. It's fine. If you like the coin, then buy it. This can easily be cleaned frictionless  (no touching). Personally I would not clean them however.
Blemishes and "milk spots" - Unless you are in love with the coin, leave it. White "smears" or spots cannot be removed without damaging the coin and image. I've experimented on cheap coins  and any method will leave varying degrees of spots and will leave varying degrees of scratches. Also be aware that spotting can happen at any time. Put it away clean and perfect and a month later it will have spots (Royal Mint) which make you cry. It cannot be prevented.
Scratches - Again. unless you are in love with the coin, leave it. Unless you are a master precious metals polishing guru, scratches will not go away.

Lastly, buy from reputable sources. The forum is full of great pieces and trustworthy sellers. Unfortunately there are also sellers who circumvent HMRC and don't pay the VAT on imported silver. I have always done my best to import my silver legally paying what I owe. There is no harm in asking questions. I tend to lean towards supporting "civilian" forum members such as myself, and then online dealers (with websites and such), who sponsor the forum. Give the little guy a chance, lol.

But the most important piece of advice .... If you like it - and it moves you, buy it.

Hope this helps.

Great advice Panda thank you! I don’t really like the RM too much personally.

I’m liking the look of the Zombucks what’s you opinion on smaller mints such as this.

What’s your personally website as would love to pick up some Korea mint pieces too.

Mexican Libertads Bullion  (I'm still searching for particular coins; I've been at it for 3 years.) (I have to look and see what i'm missing.)

or Zambian Elephants Series Bullion  (I've not got any)

or Rwanda Somalia Elephant Series Bullion (Took 5 years and a few hundred pounds)

or Rwanda Wildlife  Series Bullion (Took 5 years and a few hundred pounds) (require 2023-2024)

Thanks for posting this @Silverr, I've just started purchasing PM's so everyone's replies have provided me, as well as you, with lots of options.

I'm considering the Royal Mints Myths & Legends series as I quite like the designs, but the quality control issues cause me to have some doubts about doing so.

Glad it helped you as it did me, I’m only 8 months into my PM journey and needed some inspiration for series I wanted to follow through with.

I have a Myths & Legend but decided to not continue with them due to RM quality control.

Personally right now I’m loving the look of Zombucks series 2 so decided to pick up the first coin of the series yesterday.
