Sterling Silver Wood Lined Box Hallmarked Birmingham 1923 William Neale. Measures 14cm by 9cm by 6cm. Total weight 494g.

At these boxes is difficult to estimate, having the wood interior and vinyl bottom. If would be in great condition, I think @250 pounds.

In this tired condition, I would say @125 pounds it is a fair price.

If this box is wood-lined - as it appears - then I strongly recommend that you take internal and external measurements of the depth of this box.

It is very likely that you will find it is lead-weighed, the base metal accounting for most of the weight.

I was actually just going to say scrap,due to condition. Buyers of these boxes,buy them to display them,and condition let's this one done badly. Sorry. 😔

My estimation of @£125 came from considering only the half of the total weight being sterling silver, another half of weight being another materials. So an estimated spot.

The Cedar wood lining usual weighs next to nothing, the vinyl not so much either, but the lids are usually weighted- I would say you’re likely left with a very minimum of 300g of .925 so that’s about £160 worth at spot.
