Hello to everyone

Hey there guys,

Thank you so much for the great welcome into a new adventure certainly for me, please forgive me if I'm a bit slow at first in getting back to you as I'm still searching my way around the site but I'm sure it will all fall into place eventually.

And thank you to everyone who has replied to my original starting post.

As my partner once said..... "They'll always be daffodils".......... I'll add to that..........."and silver and gold".

Welcome to the madhouse... errrm, I mean Forum Keith 😁 - won't be long before you get the bug and settle in right alongside us Precious Metal obsessed folks 😉

Out of curiosity - did your Grandad leave you coins? 🤔 - made me wonder about your choice of investment for your Grandkids...

Good to have you along,

Bob

In reply to Scootermuppet (Bob's) question, well yes I suppose it was coins but not in the way you may think. I was born in the mid 1940's and from that date forward my maternal grandad saved every gold coloured multi sided Threepenny Bit at the end of his day, which he then placed in a small box and kept safe in his roll top desk and every now and again I could have a little peek and see them mounting up, then when he thought there were enough in the box he would take them along to the bank and deposit them in an account he had opened for me. So over the years he made many, many visits to the bank. Eventually, at the age of 21 he gave me the bank book. Looking back, I remember my fasination of looking at all those shiny coins together in the little box and that to me at the time was just like looking into a pot of shimmering gold. So now, after Many, many years, I'm lucky enough to be looking at the real thing.

To the much younger readers out there they may not know what a "Threepenny Bit" is, it's a small 22mm wide, 2.5mm thick 12 sided, Nickel Brass looking coin which had value in the day. And believe it or not I still have one of those coins which he gave me, that was one which never made it to the bank and I still have it to this day.

Grandparents and grandchildren a match made in heaven💛

A coin is not only a store of value but a store of beauty.
