An honest answer, its either a proof or not, do you have evidence that its struck as a proof? Or were you just told it was a proof? If you believe it is a proof and that it is good condition, my advice it get it graded and then sell it. Someone like @GoldDiggerDave provides a service.

Ex proof or impaired proof or handled proof just means it was a proof strike that has been marked in some way and is being sold at bullion price.

This is definitely a proof strike and looks to be pretty decent, but were I selling it I would also reference it as impaired (or ex) proof due to the marks on the edge which even @GoldDiggerDave's magic would be unlikely to resolve:

A nice example of an impaired proof though and a great way to get a date in proof finish for a run

The easiest way of knowing that it is a proof, regarding of condition is looking at the name Nathan.  Only proof have his first name initial P.

How about 2009? It has P.N.

and 2008? It wasn’t engraved by P. Nathan, I think mine says JB or similar.

For a while the RM did mint £5 BU sovereigns with a U so they could not be mistaken for a proof … some could not tell the difference 🤣

This is only in the traditional original standing Britannia by Philip Nathan. The others special one off designed, I have not studied.
