First buy! 1982 proof Sovereign. Does it look real? Urgent advice needed. Thanks!

Agreed with @LawrenceChard on the above.

Stick to the forum and dealers at the start at least and and avoid eBay.

My general view is that there really are no “bargains” on eBay although you do occasionally see the odd “sleeper” pop up and as does the price!

I'd keep it as a reminder of a hard lesson learned and take whatever partial refund the seller has offered as compensation.  He's obviously a bit of a crook who knew fine well what he was doing although I don't understand the pressure to leave immediate feedback - maybe he thought that would give him some ammunition to fight back with if you later raised a claim against him.. who knows..  To my mind it's a bullion value coin and not worth putting yourself through the hassle of trying to return it when any number of diffcult issues could arise, for example seller receives it then claims you've sent him a different coin back, or even worse a fake, and refuses to refund you or something..  Anything can happen with these scammers on ebay, so cut your losses and learn the lesson, infuriating as it may be.

Why did you take it out of the capsule BTW..?
