Wedding Sixpence (Gold) 2021

Recommended Posts

It was first advertised on the RM website in May for £315. Then they removed it from the site and sent an email stating it was listed in error. It has been re-advertised this week at £475... i ordered one in May but the transaction was cancelled by RM and was showing up in my account as a closed order.

To be honest i believe the original price is more realistic - it still works out at approx £100 premium on the gold cost. The new price seems to be a bit heavy for a design already in use for silver versions. Just checked my account and they have charged £315 as per the original listing 😁

Thanks very much for this information. All very interesting!

The price tag of £475 is too rich for me considering the weight, but I would have been interested at £315. It is such a shame that it doesn’t have a limited mintage. That would have been the icing on the cake.

The gold wedding SIXPENCE appears to have been re-branded for Christmas.  It is still £475.  However, on careful reading of the two descriptions, it appears that the wedding SIXPENCE is red gold, whereas the Christmas SIXPENCE is YELLOW gold - so it is a totally different coin.

I've just noticed that the red wedding SIXPENCE is 22ct gold with a weight of 5.59gms whereas the Christmas yellow SIXPENCE is .999 fine gold (hence the colour) and weighs 6.19gms.

I think that it is a great little coin for £315. I never saw it at that price. How long was it at £315?

When was it released and why such a big increase in price since? Do you think that they made a mistake with the issue price?

The 2021 Gold Proof Six Pence is now available at £345 (down from £475).

If you are giving as a wedding gift it is probably better to have the correct year. 2022 Gold Sixpence is £475 🥴

With little fanfare the Royal Mint has released a 22ct Gold Six Pence dated 2022.  They are aiming this at the wedding market. Price £475.
