Calm before the storm?

Anyone else noticed the dramatic reduction in the amount of bars, rounds, coins being put up for sale in the last month or so all I'm finding is the same few listings. This brings me to another question is it the hive mentality?

I've noticed it too, as well as high premiums on the few active listings. It could be down to the fact that spot price on gold and silver is falling, nobody wants to sell at a loss.

It could be due to the fact imported silver will have 20'% VAT slapped on it. People are finding their feet in the new environment.

When silver was trading around £20.50 per ounce recently I lined up a number of silver coins ready to drop into the market but changed my mind when it collapsed £2 almost overnight. Very much a wait and see for better days ( as a seller ) with the added bonus of not having to compete against VAT free.

Are you specifically talking silver?  I think a decent amount of gold has been advertised and been sold at good prices. I missed out on two Multi sets of Sovs that were went before I could get them!

I can't remember the last time I saw a 10oz bar, kilo bar, sovs used to pop up basically every day at some point 1/4 oz gold is few and far between there are a few 1oz gold but tbf with a little hunting I can normally find a dealer for cheaper Inc delivery. It just strikes me as odd that almost everyone is holding back on listing bits at the same time

I missed out on the sale of a load (think 20 or 30 in one batch and another batch or 4).  All in the last week!

I think the month of January also has a part to play in this as although we didn't have a normal Christmas, im sure December would have been expensive month regardless of lockdown.

Yes true, but if you want quick cash you should not sell your au or ag. I'm sure there are plenty of excess electronics that can go before the au and ag

I think its due to the lockdown rules , fear of the faster spreading variant , not wanting to risk being in a post office and also delays with the postal system. Selling PMs can wait for a few weeks until things improve plus there is also the chance that silver and gold will increase . 😷
