Welcome to the forum - personally I find gold to be much more liquid in terms of ease of sale and it has a lot less of a potential liability from purchase premiums to selling.

Hi thanks for the info so do you think I should stick to one and not both then

Down to individual preference on what you want to achieve with gold and silver. If you are after short term profits, silver is volatile so could yield returns but could also cause losses. Gold is more steady so unlikely to yield big ups and downs.

Long term - both are viable purchases in my opinion - but premiums on silver are still a factor.

Coins every time.

They are easier to verify as real, have much more of a collector base and sometimes can yield additional revenue from their desirability and/or collectability - silver and gold bars/ingots are often less desirable and harder to sell quickly at higher prices.

Welcome! And best take the advise @BackyardBullion wrote. He knows a thing or two re PM's ;).

And if you are in it for the long haul both PM's seem pretty safe bets. I just don't like the premium and VAT on silver so I tend to lean towards gold coins.
