The Declining Use of Cash in the UK

Can't you tell?

The bin men come on Tues, that helps

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

Does anyone remember the wage packet?

A small envelope with your wages in (less than £100 then) with a staple through it.

I remember it and I'm only 37. Was like that for a few years until the firm's I worked with moved with the times.

They are all equal. I can't understand the mancs so same boat. It's not the qualification, it's what you do with it.

Wasn't talking about the studying. However, I'm the same with Brummies, can't understand a word and my wife's from that neck of the woods!

Went to the bank this am to withdraw £1k + to pay off my liabilities and have a bit of cash in the wallet.

In the end I could not withdraw the amount I wanted to because I did not have ID. Max was £1k. Now it's been a while since I been to the bank but it's got me thinking the retail banks are reducing their services and putting up evermore barriers for account holders to withdraw their own hard earned money.

Hmmm all in PM's is it viable 🤔

Once you put your money in the bank, be it cash or electronic, the ownership is transferred to the bank. You have the right to have withdraw the money, but on terms and conditions that are favourable to the bank. Obvious as it is, most people don't know that.

The banks have been stringing us along for decades regarding the cashless society plan they are working on.

Around about 2001 there were approx 84 thousand ATM,s in the country, apparently to make it more convenient for us to access our cash, which was true.

The unintended consequences ( the band played believe it if you like ) more and more people stopped using Banks, (you don't say) leading to bank closures, poor banking industry couldn't afford to operate them as they have become a financial liability. Now we are supposed to believe the ATM's have also become a financial liability and are disappearing like snow off a dyke.

Puts me in mind of one man and his dog.
