Wait! I'm having an epiphany 😁

2 pints an hour Mick?

What is minimum wage today?

I think a pint of bitter was 46p

I used to work at night part time in a pub after my day job , you could buy 3 pints for 48 pence, the owner wouldn't allow anyone near the till, it was like one of those Ronny Barker open all hours tills, it barked every time he opened it. £1 went a long way back then.😉

i remember beer and cider at around 10p in the college bar (subsidised) - it does not seem credible now. This is when you know fiat currency is just pants.

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.

This was one of the Cambridge colleges Roy - only the elite pay those rates.

i am better than that it took me a second try to get to Oxford a few years later. i remember when i started i thought i would not be able to cope - i could not understand some of the lecturers' - long words and funny posh accents. For quite a while i actually did wish i had gone to Manchester.

Does anyone remember the wage packet?

A small envelope with your wages in (less than £100 then) with a staple through it.

I can remember getting them from my early jobs, and can remember filling them with cash for my employees when I had my own shop and pub. Didn't have a staple though, I was posh, I had sticky flaps on the envelope.

In the merchant navy, when at sea, we had cans of beer for 25p, and shots were 10p. No duty on alcohol when at sea :)

Cricky this has really turned out to be a meeting of the dominoes club in the corner of the pub.
