Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Today I received this beauty,I have been looking for a good example of this 2oz proof kook for nearly a year, while the coin itself is not particularly rare with a mintage of 5000,it is rare to get one in almost pristine condition,it has a tiny bit of toning on the rim.

They do come up now and again on ebay but most if not all are badly toned and have black spotting all over them to a greater or lesser degree ( obverse & reverse) 1991 was the 1st 2 oz proof Kook and even the  average ones make good money.

I was getting fed up looking at the hole in my collection and only 2 weeks ago nearly bought a very average one.Glad I didn't  :D

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

Yes I too am after a 2002 sovereign but at the right price. They are a tad expensive but I will be patient.

Hopefully one will pop up somewhere, and I will pip you to it  :P

You might also want to look at sovereigns from 1989 they are also a special design, 500th anniversary of the sovereign. Bloody dear though. :(

Not wishing to scare anyone, but the halfs have been sold on Ebay for £240 and upwards, The fulls for £800+ (although someone snapped up a double that was graded for £675 Mega bargain),
