These coins being so scarce, you'd probably be able to sell it for a profit with all its defects. And perhaps sending it to NCS conservation might get rid of some of it?

Unfortunately I think it's very unlikely to get another. I already sent the first one back and was told I was going to get a refund as they had no more, so when I saw this replacement going through the system it was somewhat of a surprise. Doubt very much I'll get a third, and of course the risk now is this is probably worth well over what I paid. I'm just not sure if I'm being overly picky or if this is actually an OK example.

Yikes - nice bargain!
I was thinking you had one of these 😂
Added 0 minutes later... I'm really not sure what this has to do with anything? 🤨

Just received my Silver Una- it’s in the condition you would expect from the world renown Royal Mint-
scratched...
Similar condition to the 1oz Queen Silver Proof I received last Friday.
I’m speechless- and will open a book here on what condition the 1/4oz Queen Gold I ordered arrives in:
Odds on 1/3 Damaged
Evens- acceptable
33/1 Lost in the post
Want to bet?

Still waiting with baited breath to see if I get one from Royal Mint. The fact they're now trading for double means I'll be even more annoyed if I don't! 😂

Attorneys won't help you in the slightest because it'll all be covered in the terms and conditions you signed up to.
It'll probably be fine. However the risk is you send the coin, it arrives safely per your insured delivery method, buyer tucks your coin underneath their pillow, then buyer contacts PayPal and tells them you sent him a rock in a box. Oh no.
Now it's your word versus the buyer. And you can't even be 100% sure if the buyer is at fault, maybe someone stole it and replaced with a rock during delivery The shipping company insurance is no longer relevant though, their system says they delivered it. However eBay and PayPal policy is clear - buyer is covered if item received is 'not as described' - so unless you can prove otherwise (which you really can't in this scenario) they are going to get a refund.
If the money has left your PayPal, they will refund the buyer anyway and now you own them the money. Good luck with that one!
The unfortunate reality is they have to side with someone, either the buyer or the seller. If they sided with the seller in these cases, there would be nothing to stop you actually just shipping out rocks! So there's no perfect answer here, just the risk associated with selling online unfortunately.
TLDR - know the risks!
eBay shifting away from PayPal? I don't think so - eBay own PayPal! 😄

Awesome! What I don't understand is why someone would sell these at auction? I get that once you pay VAT and fees etc you're paying close to spot, but why wouldn't the seller just walk into any dealer and sell them for close to spot without worrying about VAT etc? Eludes me lol

The smart money might be on buying an original Gothic Crown then. If they do release that next, it could create interest in the original and push the price up.

Melon reacted to goldking in GOLD DEALS - (UK & Europe) See a deal, post it here
It doesn't always hold true as some guys just want to deal outside of Ebay to save on fees (which is understandable) but the warning signs for Ebay listing scams are typically :
1. 100% positive feedback but it's been made private so you can't see the item details nor the item value. They set up another account and then list 1p items on their primary account and buy them with their secondary account (or vv.). After the fake sales have completed they leave glowing positive feedback for each other. They make it private so that you can't see all the items were 1p, making it obvious they've been shilling their feedback rating. Most people don't look beyond a 100% feedback rating.
2. stating "No Paypal, bank transfer only" and wanting to deal outside of Ebay.
3. new accounts with little to no history.
4. accounts with high feedback but their history is all purchases and the last purchase was made several months ago. The sudden appearance of a high value sale item is often a indication that the account has been hacked.
5. descriptions saying they're selling it on behalf of someone else, don't know anything about it, not sure if genuine or not, no returns allowed etc etc. They know full well that it's fake.
6. fuzzy/blurry photos.
The above is probably old news to most people but might be helpful to the less savvy internet users when looking for bargains on Ebay.

I'd take the money and run if it was me. No idea about the value of grading.
It may go up over time, but it also may go down. In my mind, I'm not in this game to speculate with large sums of money on collectables. So for me it would be sell and invest in weight.
But it's not my Una, so the real question is what are you in the game for?
