5 random half sovereign from HGM
1925 looks to be SA mint

Same as most other people today I think! Very nice coin (after playing pass the parcel with myself to get in - I counted 8 layers of packing around the coin including the capsule...) Luckily the dings near the lions bum are on the capsule, not the coin.

 

Yesterday's haul from the postie:

It arrived! £700 up front, wait two months, worry about postal strikes, already had a parcel go AWOL - but it arrived this morning and it is jaw droppingy pretty.
Worth noting though that the capsule was a little loose, and the RM have obviously decided that the little black pads that came with the previous Sov to avoid such issues are no longer required! Also a fair amount of detritus inside the capsule, but all in all delighted, coin looks good.

Evening all. Have checked the forum rules and believe this post to be OK. In case anyone would be interested in having something custom made to house their coin collection I came across this guy in one of the FB groups. Veteran by the name of Wayne Rowlands that has a company called Box it. With his permission I’ve added a couple of pics of what he can make and thought others here may find it of interest. Has nothing to do with me and no personal interest in anything other than seeing a new audience brought to a craftsman and veteran that served his country 👍🏼

I bought a 1900 Sov from Ash recently in a fancy carded pack.
It lasted 5 mins before I ripped it out and put it where it belongs. In a quality capsule, in a quality coin box.

Sorry about the second post but slightly improved pics - also the obverse feels like an old style proof strike rather than the ones the Queen was using. The reverse in my opinion is too cluttered when viewed from a distance but spectacular close up. It’s a nice coin tbf. 

Completed the set in silver, mostly quite nice examples, just some minor toning/milking, alas I won’t be back peddling for the gold ones 🤭
Left with a few stragglers where I’ve bought more than one to get them at a better price so may flip them at some point.

Received the 2020 2oz and the fractionals today from @Chrisplymto go with my 2020 5oz. Anybody got a spare 1oz so I can complete the set and relax my ocd of not having them all? 

Ok the negatives, the capsule wasn’t closed properly and there is dust on the coin. It’s also a nightmare to photograph but here are a couple from my phone. No idea why Charles head looks do grainy - in real life it looks ok
