I know hindsight is 20/20 but if I had bought 1 Sovereign a month from when I started work in 1989 I would be retired now.
For any younger stackers out there, its still an achievable target even at today's prices.

The media has done a cracking job over the years to denigrate the idea of owning Gold as being for paranoid nutcases.
It is now very apparent that it has been a very deliberate policy to push this narrative as Gold is kryptonite to the Keynesians.

Same year I started work but never knew about sovereigns. I saved for the weekend and had to start again on the Monday

Purchased a special sovereign off @James32 last week which means I owe a massive thanks to everyone on TSF as I've hit the 1kg of gold in full sovereigns 🙂 (That's 137 to save anyone counting 😂).
I started this journey just under 3 years ago after happening upon TSF after looking up what one was worth that was given to me by my grandparents when I was born. Gave myself the target of 1kg in 10 years (1 per month plus a few) and have smashed that. Honestly the best decision I've done and a great little nest egg for retirement. Here's to the next kg and once again, thank you all 😀🥰

Having looked at the video and read the listing, I can not see much wrong here.  A little annoying for those who wanted to bid.  Negotiations were already in the process prior to the auction. OP decided to list as an auction as he already had minimum price that had been offered, too many PM telling him he was doing it wrong so decided to end the auction.  Yes a bid went in, but he did end it quite quickly.  It would have been another story had the auction run for a few hours and many bids, but it did not.
Like been said, it was previous listed as BIN price. All other members had the chance to buy it then or try and negotiate a deal.
At the end of the day nothing is legally binding and a seller chooses who to sell to.   I remember an auction that went to the end and was pulled as price seller wanted was not reached. It leaves a bad taste but everyone moves on and another deal is just around the corner.

It is a nice set, indeed, but usually difficult to sell. The people who are interested and can afford to buy a full set are only very few, unfortunately. There are many sets advertised online on antique websites or auction houses for big prices, but are not selling, even in years.
The person who will buy your set will buy it to keep it in family as a heritage for children.
Your set is made by a well-known silversmith and is complete, so this is a good start.

    Options for you:
    1. Split the set and sell them individually on Ebay. They will sell probably @10% over spot. After deducting the fees, the result is under spot. Don't do it.
    2. Sell the set to a bullion dealer. They will pay @15% under spot. Don't do it.
    3. Contact an auction house. Maybe they will sell it @30% over spot. After deducting their 35% fees, the result is under spot. Don't do it.
    4. Try to sell at forum as a set. I am sure you will find someone willing to pay 10%-15% over spot. I don't think you will be able to achieve more, unfortunately.
I know, usually the expectations are higher, especially seeing online prices for similar articles, but from my experience silver flatware/tableware will not sell for more.
Good luck with whatever you will decide to do!🤗

The Chinese are maintaining the $3 premium, at some point the West is going to run very low on Silver.
They seem to be ridding themselves of US Treasuries and buying up commodities instead.
