Well it looks like I missed the silver, so I'm back buying silver again.

Don't want to follow the semi-numi path as before, so concentrating on my £/oz average very carefully, as I have done with my gold (12oz at £780 average). No circulated allowed though.

    So today I bought a 1kg 2015 kook and a 1kg 2016 lunar S2 monkey, with four 1oz Noah's to make the numbers work.

Added to the two 10oz coins I bought last week, I have 85oz of silver at a sub-£12 average.

Aiming to keep the average under £13 if possible.

Never had a kilo coin before, so quite excited to get them in hand.

10 2016 kooks, love this coin, not just the kook and the barb wire but also the depth of the horizon, great piece of art, I'll be getting every weight I think.
10 Perth mint monkeys, a Somalian elephant and a kangaroo, all really nice.
The royal mint monkey's poor, plenty of dings and a couple of milk spots, one by the Chinese symbol and the other on the heads side.
On the Sovereign front, the Isle of man Sov which was overweight turned out to be real, picked up a nice 1872 Sovereign while I was there.

Now he mentions about an opinion on gold falling further if rates do indeed rise, however the whole reason it has fallen back from $1190 only a month ago is because they expect a rate rise in December, so if the rates actually do rise i'd expect gold to also rise "sell on the rumor and buy on the fact" or stabilize  if rates do not rise then it would probably rally back towards $1190.

Rates rising isn't going to boost the economy, rate rises are meant for when an economy is booming and to control inflation, well everything is tanking look at Rolls Royce today it nearly tanked 25% at one point and ended the day down 20%, this is a big name industrial blue chip heavyweight on its 4th consecutive profit warning.
Mining companies like glencore only came back from lows on the back of copper moving back up and sentiment presuming no rate rises , that will go south fast if metal prices continue to fall and rate rises happen given their debt pile.
Companies like Lonmin who are basically already broke will be sure to go into administration, that's the state of the economy its so bad that big blue chip companies will be destroyed by a 0.25% rise.
You would normally cut rates in this environment.

They were about GBP 120 each, that's towards the lower end of GBP/oz in my stack, so quite happy with the purchase.

Missed the 1/4 oz Brit offered on here, so was looking at the 1/4 oz Krug at HGM...gone, so thought about that 1/2 nugget....
Settled on a double sov at Bairds which came in cheaper than the half oz from HGM. Less gold I know, but thought I might get something interesting of a lower mintage. (I am not a collector, but a stacker. Repeat 3 times.)
In the end I received a 1983 proof. A high mintage year at 13000 individual and 13000 box sets, but quite happy even though it is without box/certificate.

Finally home - just got the Iceland 1961 500 Kronur gold coin. Not quite perfect - but very happy to have a different piece of gold in the collection. About some size as a sovereign.
