Big shout out to @Clockpuncher for helping to complete my own Great Engravers collection with 2005 1oz gold Britannia designed by the legendary Philip Nathan. Though Philip is known for the iconic original Britannia which we have all come to love he also created 4 other incredibly beautiful 1 year designs in 1997, 2001, 2003 and 2005

I know what you mean about the look of 'Modern Sovereigns' from recent years...
I decided to concentrate on the early QE II coins, or Gillicks as they are known (because the designer of the queen's portrait on them was Mary Gillick)
To me, they look like a 'real' sovereign should look 😏

Today I received two bargain pieces from @DuncanWylieWilson, the original 1919 20 Pesos and the lustruous Belgium 20F, and from @lxy70713 a pristine proof 2001 half sovereign to give as a gift to my sister.
I was expecting the postie to bring along another order but I think it will be tomorrow by the looks of it 😕🫠

Not only did I buy both of these in Brilliant Uncirculated, but I also bought Daniel Carr’s 2022-S Morgan and 2022-S Peace Dollar to “fill the gap” as it were, where the US Mint let everyone down on their release of the anticipated 2022 dollars the year before.
Some people criticize Daniel Carr for his overstrikes, but I personally love them. Think what you like. Collect what you like. But most importantly, love what you collect.

This didn’t go as planned he had an 1884s an 1884m and an 1885s NOT an 1885m.
I took the 1884s.
An absolute beauty it is.
