We currently live in Southern Africa and my son was born in South Africa. So this collection might be a nice gift for him at some point.

I think so, 2022 gold and platinum elephant, 2023 lion, 2024 rhino, 2025 leopard and 2026 buffalo. Then they change the design after five years, 2027 second design of the elephant,...

The Elephant is now out in 1oz gold Bullion. Beautiful coin and I think they have captured the design of an elephant very well. 
As I write the coin is available from Atkinsons for £1565, with each new release being 5 years apart. 
Start to finish this series will take 25 years to complete. 
It will start of with an elephant followed by a lion, rhino, leopard and finally a buffalo. 
I'm very tempted to sign up as I'm a huge fan of an elephant, lions are just majestic, rhinos have that look about them, leopards hmmmmm yh what ever, and the buffalo everyone loves a gold buffalo.

So everything under a kilo trades at £24/£25 an oz

So the average selling price of generic 1oz coins currently on the forum is £24... so that's a premium of £6ish and usually falls within them parameters since I've been on here. Go a £1 back to keep safe realistically.

To clarify you would use your actual cost when working out profit or loss but if you were for eg calculating your net worth on a particular day it would be no good valuing your assets higher than what you'd get for them 

Jaysus grasshopper, you write in cost price ( even including delivery if applicable) then you know what price is suitable to sell at ( spot price dependant of course)
Buy on here will often be your cheapest option and you get to see exact items before hand. On here think of it as premium over spot rather than vat.

Lol. This and I ordered the 5 coin set via Chards 2 and a half hours after the RM release for £40 less and with no doubt better QC than the RM. Haven’t touched the RM for a year due to rubbish QC but sovs they do well and dipping a toe back into safety via Chards QC.  Cheers
