  1. I'd be interested to know what safe you do end up going for.
  2. Did you have to tell your insurance provider how many and what type of coins you have?
  3. Hi, I'm looking for a small safe that is key operated and optionally has a keypad and preferably fireproof. Mainly, I want it to be reliable so will open even if untouched for many years. I've just tried opening an existing safe and struggled to open it. The key wouldn't fit and the keypad didn't seem to work. I did manage to eventually open it with the key but I don't think it's very reliable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you
  4. Hi, My stack consists of Brits and sovs. I have a Excel formula to calculate the total value of my stack which uses the current spot price minus 5%. Is this too pesamistic? What formula are you using to calculate the current value of your stack? I want to make sure I have an accurate figure as possible. If I do need to sell then I plan to sell to a bullion dealer. I know it's possible to sell on this forum before anyone mentions it. What are the average percentage above / below spot that I'm likely to get for 1 oz Brits and standard sovs? Thank you
  5. Are premiums for 1/4 oz coins the same as for sovs? Thanks
  6. Good advice. I'm curious why you've mentioned 1/4oz Brits rather than just sovs for 1/4 oz range. It seems like most peple buy sovs in 1/4 oz or otherwise 1 oz brits or other types of 1 oz coins
  7. Hi, If you had the option of buying the current 1 oz 2023 Britannia gold bullion coin with QE2 on it or buying a few 2022 sovs, which option would you go for for the long term? When it comes to both these coins, will the Royal Mint stop producing them on 31 Dec? and are they likely to be still available in the new year from other gold dealers from your experience from past years? Thanks
  8. That sounds good. I've found it quite difficult to buy any other tubes apart from Royal Mint ones. Can't remember if I looked at Coin Safe but I know for air tights, they were saying they only ship from the US and would have to pay shipping and extra charges
  9. Hi there, I've bought some Royal Mint storage tubes from Bullion by Post. The ones that can store 10 x 1 oz gold Britania coins and have a yellow lid. Are these suitable for storing gold long term? and tips on handling coins when putting them into the tubes? Once in, I won't be touching them again. I keep reading pure gold coins can be scratched / dented easily and am not sure how fragile they are. There was a youtube video by Backyard Bullian where he used a towel to lay the coins on which I thought was a good idea. Any other tips on handling them would be appreciated. What websites do people like to use when checking spot price before making a purchase? I like to make a note but have noticed the price shown can be very different on various websites. Thank you
  10. Thanks all for your replies and advice. They are regular bullion coins, not proof (1 oz Britannia and 1 x soverign)
  11. Hi, I've just recieve my first 2 coins from the Royal Mint. I have some newbie questions re organising and documenting them. Inside the postal cardboard envelope, along with a paper invoice, there were 2 smaller cardboard boxes and inside each was a gold coin in a plastic case. Do you keep the small cardboard box that the coin comes in? There is a sticker with some number on it along with a date. I'm not sure if this will be of any use when I come to selling? And for the invoice, do you keep an electronic copy as well / how do you remember which invoice goes with which coin? Are these used when selling coins or aren't gold dealers bothered? For bullion coins, does it matter if the coins are stored in an air tight case or not when it comes to retaining their price? I'd also appreciate recommendations for plastic coin tubes that can be used to store 1 oz Britannia / gold soverign coins that are in Royal Mint plastic coin cases. Do the Royal Mint or one of the bigger UK gold dealers sell these? Thank you
