  1. Getting a refund from eBay was practically automatic in the end, without needing a video, so I had no worries on that front. The only concerns I had that warranted police involvement were the things the seller subsequently said and did. I also would have preferred to get the coin I'd actually ordered (they sent me a 2015 instead of a 2005) but in their mind they'd sent me the right one so that was far from being an option.
  2. Well it's clearly a different coin, and from what you've said I don't think you have anything to worry about really. When something similar happened to me a while back (the seller sent me the wrong coin, and I also had a video thankfully!), the seller immediately started acting VERY strange and ended up earning himself a visit from the police for harassment and malicious communications.
  3. Suggesting that something bought back then has a modern cost equivalent based on how much gold it would have cost at the time only works if that something is actually gold. In terms of actual money...
  4. They still have a face value of £1 today. Comparing that against the value of the metal they're made of is nonsensical.
  5. I don't think it works like that!
  6. Such opportunity here. 1. baby oil 2. feathers 3. pay per view 4. ... 5. profit?!
  7. 2024 Royal Arms coming soon. https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/uk-coin-ranges/the-royal-arms/royal-arms-2024-register-your-interest/ The gold 1oz coins are usually limited to 5,000 coins worldwide.

  12. Would need a better photo to tell whether the defect is a strike though or just a dent.
  13. That's not spot is it?
  14. £120 back then would be worth about £19,500 today. Modern equivalent of nearly £28/oz.
  15. I think I accidentally acquired another coin with a super-low mintage without realising it?! As far as I can tell, all silver proof versions of this coin were coloured, with only the piedfort version being plain. This Pyx coin is not a piedfort, which would make it one of only 6-10 uncoloured coins in existence (I don't know how many were returned from the trial as this didn't come with paperwork - anyone know?). Update: I was wrong about the piedfort version - that was also only available in colour, apart from 10 uncoloured ones that were returned from the trial.
  16. Yes, if you count the Gibraltar things and a few others that claim to be silver sovereigns. I was expecting some kind of Wonka based silver sovereign merch too after the movie.
