  1. If it were free, sure. It was never the best first choice as its piedfort nature makes the edge inscription float around in the middle of nowhere.
  2. But you'd think that they must be able to make it this time if they went ahead and sold them. Ready to throw my toys out the pram if not!
  3. This is unacceptable. Please resolve immediately.
  4. They're proud of their low returns rate. And while it remains low, it's not worth their effort improving quality. They can just pump this stuff out, knowing that most of it will be accepted regardless. When something has a £2k premium, I think they can justify having someone spend a full 2 minutes looking at the coin for defects. But they don't.
  5. Is it worn, or simply not struck with enough pressure...
  6. Yet another unexpected 1/40oz gold! https://www.royalmint.com/shop/limited-editions/buckingham-palace/buckingham-palace-2024-1-40oz-gold-proof-coin/
  7. No need to print a photo. I made a video about this set and I was told that everyone in the production factory was made to stop work to watch it together.
  8. I've received worse coins before! The capsule didn't even close properly on this one.
  9. A few things: It's been struck without a collar (broadstruck) causing the blank to spill outwards The struck coin has then been struck at least one more time (multistruck), as you can see from the extra outer dots. That's caused it to spread out even more, becoming even wider and thinner (the overall diameter is 31mm instead of 28mm). Most noticeably, the inner blank spreads out far beyond the inner row of dots compared to a properly struck coin. There is no edge milling, because that would have been imparted by the [missing] collar. There is still edge lettering however, as those are put onto the outer blanks during the rimming process, before they're combined and struck. It's unfortunate that it's a bit dirty and mangled, but I expect it probably fell down into the machinery. I love this kind of thing.
  10. Some cheeky special gold... And a beautifully crazy £2 coin...
  11. Oh do point out where they can be had for less.
  12. When you take the insert out and you realise it doesn't even go all the way to the bottom of the outer tube, it feels even more swindly
  13. I'm expecting the 5oz silver to be equally better. I also have a real 1819 LIX Crown on its way to compare - I think we can guarantee which will arrive first!
  14. Best to check there's not a turd in there, metaphorically or otherwise.
  15. Crikey yeah that looks so wonky. Bracing myself for the 5oz to be cancelled already!
  16. Heh yeah, send it back. That's not acceptable on something that has a £2000 premium on it.
  17. You would be foolish to buy them from elsewhere when the RM promo code BND264 will get you a free Coronation 50p bunc pack with your order
  18. Also interesting that these are on the website for all to buy this time. https://www.royalmint.com/britannia/commemorative/2024-britannia/2024-britannia-fractional-silver-reverse-frosted-set/
