  1. £2.99 here if you don't want the coloured version or fancy presentation pack 😝 https://uk.thekoinclub.com/products/unpackaged-the-snowman-2021-50p-brilliant-uncirculated-coin
  2. I nearly put this one in the wrong pile by mistake! (no it's not fake)
  3. Presumably, "gold plated version" is a synonym for "fake" in this case, and while it claims to contain 1oz of fine gold and has a face value of £100, surely its only purpose can be to deceive. Anyway, how on Earth has it managed to get a starting bid at that amount?! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144245799655 🤔
  4. It could be worse - MyHermes couriers can actually see exactly how much a parcel is worth! They shouldn't have any need for that, and I bet it helps fine tune which ones go missing...
  5. Sorry, wasn't meaning to thwart your selling, more to give you a price idea!
  6. There was a deal posted for the 2020 gold standard just last night! 😃 Update: still plenty in stock https://www.hattongardenmetals.com/buy/the-gold-standard-quarter
  7. Btw, if the intention was to hide that number under the black rectangle, be aware that the barcode also contains that number
  8. Those silly upside down coins always get me 🤣
  9. Well I'm glad these ones all arrived the right way up! The full set of 2019 Britannia proofs from the Trial of the Pyx (1/40 oz to 1oz) Oddly, they are all "one of ten" apart from the 1oz coin which is one of six returned from the trial.
  10. I have a 100g cast bar as a "desk fondler" because I'd probably lose it otherwise. I think it's better than a 1oz coin because it's a smoother shape, and chunky enough to better appreciate the thermal conductivity properties.
  11. I have pointed it out to them and I'm waiting to see what they offer to do about it first.
  12. As it says on that page: "A 2019-dated silver coin that was inspected at the 2020 Trial of the Pyx" See https://www.royalmint.com/our-coins/events/trial-of-the-pyx/ for more information about that process.
  13. So eventually, today I received... All fine in the end apart from the glaring error of the Year of the Pig coin being put into the tamper-evident card the wrong face up so you can only see the "Trial of the Pyx" lettering on the Queen's side. Where do those premiums go...
  14. Woah, hold my horses... I've just noticed my newly discovered Trial of the Pyx coin has been sealed into the tamper-evident packaging the wrong way round (the Queen's head is on top). Unsure whether I should get that resolved or whether it adds to the value
  15. Oh man, I feel so silly now, but also rather annoyed at the Royal Mint. Anyway, I'm pleased to say I have found the coin! It was not present in that slot, nor anywhere else in the completely-sealed folder like it was for the other coins I'd ordered - it had instead been chucked loose into the outer brown cardboard folder where I have just unexpectedly found it wedged tightly into the corner. Quite a relief, but also annoyed that they had done that, and also annoyed that I didn't find it until after spending half an hour on the phone with them (it was really well hidden, I missed it on my first check!). My recycling bin nearly went into early retirement!
  16. Today I received my Trial of the Pyx order. Can anyone spot why I'm not very impressed?! There is literally no coin in the pack at all! It arrived sealed and everything!
  17. It's crazy isn't it. The mintage was 210,000, which seems like a large number - but compared with the rest I guess it isn't, and the relatively low mintage is exacerbated by people keeping hold of them when they find one, thus making them even rarer in the wild. You'd be extremely lucky to find one today even if you sifted through dozens of big bags of 50ps from a bank. Here's an eBay auction for a circulated one that sold for £160, which seems even crazier when you can get uncirculated ones for less! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kew-Gardens-50p-Original-Genuine-Circulated-great-condition-2009-Rare-/403222335467
  18. It's most likely due to the fact that the circulated version is so rare. Even a bruised up circulated Kew Gardens coin is worth quite a lot to some people!
  19. Maybe spending over the odds on Trial of the Pyx coins has bumped my position up in the queue
  20. Another chance to throw your money at them!
  21. It feels a bit more Snarf than Panthro to me
