Has anyone thought that there might be more victims who only deal via PM and are probably not willing to admit that they have been scammed.

I'm still waiting for confirmation from my bank. They contacted me a few days ago with a load more questions on top of what I have already answered asking about how I made sure the person was who they said they were and how I determined if the items being sold were real.

I would, I prefer to sell to previous buyers or buyers with good feedback, and I am always nervous selling to a new buyer.
Not on here but not that long ago I sold a 1926-1932SA date run to someone on a Facebook group, heard nothing but about 3 weeks later he raised a 'transaction not recognised', claim with his bank.
I had to upload evidence to an online portal including screenshots of the conversations, screenshot of the tracking, scan of the postage receipt.  My bank found in my favour and rejected the chargeback but it was a stressful few days until they did.
So sellers face the same risks as buyers, potentially losing their pm's for no monetary gain.  This is why I like to see feedback for a buyer on here and like dealing with repeat buyers and well established members.
I have sold 207 times on TSF, and been a buyer 316 times (I record everything in a way I can filter it).  My feedback is almost all as a seller, buyers are far better at leaving feedback than sellers are.
Not sure who said it in this thread now, but the best thing I have heard is the ability to see buying and selling feedback separately.  I find that super useful on eBay, I don't need to know the seller buys incontinence pants every week from the same seller, but I would like to know how many coins they have sold and see the feedback on that

I agree with this. When I joined the forum, it was suggested to me that I buy some items to so I can have better feedback on the forum before I sell my PM's. I skipped the reason why members started discussing this so I'm not sure I'm missing something. Just my two p's relating to this comment.

Why feedback is important for me and most of new members?
This is the way how we can proof to be trusty part of this community. As new starters, most of the time we would rather prefer to read forum first and gain some knowledge. Some of us would like to sell some of our stock, so it is obvious we try to buy something first and gain good feedbacks. I completely disagree with saying feedback for the buyer means nothing. I understand that some very active sellers like to treat us as just another client and source of income, fair enough. But, "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it". That is why big dealers like Chards or Atkison provide high customer service and are successful even with the higher prices than on TSF.

To be fair  I didn’t think this would be such a confrontational subject.
Big or small, buyer or seller…..leave bloody feedback. It’s hard earned money and worth the 30 seconds and builds the community. It’s not hard, really.
TSF is built on reputation or it becomes FB and Flea-Bay.
As a famous Manager once said ’Rules… without them, we live with the animals’.

I dont see why there is confusion over feedback, as a seller and a buyer feedback to me is equal in importance.
As soon as a buyer has paid I leave feedback as their part of the transaction is complete, the buyer then leaves feedback when goods have been received and checked as my part of the transaction is done.
It's not rocket science is politeness and common courtesy, as a seller you treat your buyers with respect and go as far as is possible to make the sale as reassuring as reasonably possible it is large sums of hard earned money that is being handed over and as a seller the least you can do is respect that and acknowledge you appreciate their purchase from you.

Thats fair enough, no one is made to buy off any one they dont want to.
Some one with some feedback, in my view are going to be safer to deal with,  with more of a reputation to lose.

Some one with a buyer feedback of 30 is going to have a easier time selling something for the first time than some one with no feedback at all. So people do take it to account.

This in my opinion is total BULL, YOU as a seller are responsible to help especially new members and give feedback. Why should you build up your feedback reputation while thinking a buyers feedback means nothing.  YOU are nothing without buyers and your business would go to zilch.
I will go a step further,  I bought from you very recently, informed you that the item had arrived and left you feedback.  You on the other hand could not be bother to even say thank you for letting me know, let alone leave feedback.
I said it before and will say it again, a BUSINESS seller should leave feedback to a buyer as soon as they have been paid.

This is nothing new. I leave feedback as soon as I receive my purchase so I can thank the buyer, acknowledge safe receipt and announce my feedback is given all in one PM. Over the years I have witnessed several sellers not leave feedback despite the expectation it is left for them. It does work both ways. It is respectful. It’s what makes the community a good place to be.

No feedback given is a huge problem and IMPORTANT for both buyers and sellers to exercise completing feedback for both parties.
Regardless of how many members you are communicating with it’s due diligence and part of the core ethos of the community to build each other’s reputation up meaning the feedback must be given and not forgotten.
So many business sellers in the past have failed to give me feedback even with a polite remainder by PM.

I tend to not deal with them again. Sorry it’s just my perspective on the matter.
You got paid. Items received. Feedback given to seller. Return the favour.
    It’s very simple.

I think there are quite a few members like me who are buying and selling on different platforms, e.g. TSF, Facebook, eBay, etc. Facebook uses vouches from other members, TSF more relies on feedback and reputation points, and eBay, once again, relies on feedback but it has its own protection program. All of these platforms are fundamentally built on trust from both sides. If we put ourselves in the other side’s shoes, it probably makes a lot of sense. Sellers confirming the dispatch, and buyers confirming the receipt, as for myself, I think that is the least we can do for the other person.

Being a buyer on TSF is as difficult as being a seller in my opinion. It is 50% from a successful transaction and many sellers usually ignore the buyer's efforts.
A buyer will have to make a lot of hard decisions:
    1. To choose from a large selection of products offered for sale on TSF.
    2. To buy a product seen only on pictures from a person who never met before.
    3. To communicate effectively via PM with another member. Can be more difficult for some people.
    4. To have trust to divulge to an unknown person the real name, real delivery address and real bank details.
    5. To have the trust to send (usually) a large amount of money to an unknown person.
    6. To wait sometimes hours or even days until the payment was confirmed. Happened to me to not receive any message after payment which is very frustrating and stressful.
    7. To wait patiently few days until the goods has arrived.
Please, guys, reconsider your position toward buyers! Your buyers are your customers and a successful transaction is the one where both parts are 100% satisfied!🤗

A transaction is a two way thing, so both parties need to leave feedback. I’m sure that you appreciate prompt payment and good communication from a buyer, so why not give feedback?🤔

I'm saddened to read this thread, but I'm happy that people who got scammed can get their money back. I initially thought this person might have fallen ill or had an accident, making it impossible to contact. However, if they've already started sending empty packages, it's clear that this person is not trustworthy.
I always believe that individuals like this are short-sighted and don't consider the future. The profit they could have made over the years far exceeds what they can con people out of now. Unfortunately, such individuals exist, and they will resurface elsewhere at some point, or someone else will turn to such activities. Horrible stories are circulating, with some individuals having scammed hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The foundation of this community is built on trust. Everyone has their methods of conducting due diligence checks, and it's valuable that many people have shared their approaches. However, I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all solution. My advice is for both buyers and sellers to perform thorough due diligence checks and trust your instincts. Sometimes, it's best to walk away, no matter how tempting a deal may seem, if your instincts raise doubts
