Current £1,380 prompted by Evergrande averting default?

Any thoughts on the reason for this?

Not sure this warrants a pre sale, can't imagine a wild rush on it. Bit of a shame to see the design is unchanged from last year
I thought the same. Particularly with the announcement of this year's sovereign and the Royal Tudor Beasts.

With the gold content of a sovereign being 7.3224g, and spot currently at £40.62 at time of writing (total £297.44), you would will be very unlikely to get a sovereign for £250. Try tracking the cost of gold here (or similar) https://www.gold.co.uk/gold-price/week/ounces/GBP/ and identify where you can buy for a decent premium over spot.
Saying that, if you do find sovereigns for £250 let me know! 😀

I thought the three toes looked off too. Looking at the statue though it appears that the design is faithful to the crowned lion at Hampton Court.
