When you mentioned about the special collar I remembered that even Pistrucci had difficulties with the design, the picture below is a uniface Proof Trail that broke, with plain edge.
The collar itself I'm not sure if it, or part of it, could be used upside down, it is more than likely a possibility,
as it is made up of segments rather than a whole, with vertical lines, showing the segments on the edge of some of the Five Shilling's,
so unless they interlocked in some way, there may be a few incorrect. I know each part of the collar was interchangeable some  small LVIII and also large LVIII, with other lettering the same.    
The below Trial Proof came with a note also from Pisstrucci to say  "it is the best head which I ever did for that coin, I never succeeded in doing it so fine".
@westminstrel this maybe of interest to you also, this one is unique and sold at Glendining's sale 18 Sept 1963 lot 193 for the huge sum off £120 which would probably be £2500 now. It was part of his own collection, and had been given to him by Pole. 
I had so many picture's of G III Crown's, and everything about them , and lost them all through the blue screen of death on my last Computer ,with no back up, gutted.
