I am the same the 5 oz is holding back the 2 oz, I had a 2oz come through separately, the Reverse was stunning absolutely perfect, the edge lettering fully frosted,
turned it over to the obverse, completely scratched up counted at least seven different marks all visible to the naked eye, will be sending it back at the end off the week.

So pissed off I just clicked refund! Done with the royal mint. I was so looking forward to this coin after such a long wait! Shouldn’t have got my hopes up 😢
I can almost live with the rim defects but the line by the tail I can’t!

Just to note. Been in touch with royal mint customer services and they’ve been superb.
The Royal Mint get absolutely everything spot on apart from the quality of the coin!
The quality of the packaging to the way they ship the product is second to none (don’t ask me about the Brit/lib 1/40th!)
such a shame they have blind people in QC

Wee day trip out to see CrazyDave in Blackpool, had a lucky win in the coin pusher... CrazyDave said he'd send them to America, where they'll put them in a different plastic container! That Dave, he crazy!!!

I don’t understand how RM get it wrong every time and can not be sure that all these coins are in perfect condition before they send them out to customers, it’s only 200 gold coins ffs 🤦‍♂️

I think the main thing is because they just don’t care. … it helps them massively.

Has anyone had a 5 oz dispatched yet?

That's okay, the Royal mint got around the Petition Crown by filing down the excess metal, one of the sets I had showed the marks where they had done this.
I think that they will still get the PF70 as the coin left the mint like this, not 100% sure however think it will be classed as part of the minting process.

Think it is called finning, it is caused by to much pressure on the surface of the coin.
If you have it around all of the coin then the die to planchet distance is correct, and the extra pressure during minting, forces the metal between the die and collar, in an even pattern around the full circumference.
Uneven finning is where the die has not being set level/even meaning the distance of the dies on one side was set to close to the planchet which caused uneven pressure during minting, causing finning on one edge of the planchet.
The opposite effect is that the coin has been struck with a weak strike,  where the metal has not flowed into the high points.

I've received worse coins before! The capsule didn't even close properly on this one.

Dies aren't set to a distance, they're set to a pressure.

It's all very interesting when you get into the issues that arise, filing down the excess metal would be a must for me, you'd think they would have these sitting flush to perfection before being sent out. I really happen to like this coin I just hope I don't get the finning not easy in the eyes, well mine anyways lol. Do you have photos of the set you had where the marks were shown?

might send my gold 2oz back, it has a scratch on the rim and a dig by the Dragons foot as well as some missing frosting.

As an engineer I do like a good burr I can deburr. Get a wire rim variety (or as you stated a partial or full collar) when grading.

I just got confirmation for my 2 oz. Nothing so far for the 5 oz order.
For me the stress is the returns procedure and the QC gamble every time you get something from the Royal Mint, definition of insanity.
On a different note, my wife just bought home £9.50 of 50 p's , I asked if there where any good ones, she said "no only ones with the woman on a camel".
