  1. This is a once in 3 generation coin. The SOTD was a great idea when first launched but as everything with the royal mint they are hammering it to the max. There will be big birthdays and anniversaries every year but only 1 coronation of King Charles. This is the one I’d really want of all SOTD coins. Got a fair few others but to queuing system got me on this one. Could be like the Una and lion, once in strong hands they are unlikely to move that often. But I could be wrong
  2. Started in 2014 and Picked up a fair few shields, not so many in recent times but from 2014-2020 they were about £40 more than g and d. Young heads were about £10 more than g and d
  3. I’ve been getting 7.5% interest for the past 5 years in an isa with a p2p lender min £20k. I think recently put rates up to 10% but can’t change rates until the last loan has matured. Worked well for me but not everyone’s cup of tea
  4. If you’re new to collecting buy what you like. I started off with pandas May have cost me more/Oz than bullion sovs but they look better and worth more than the price difference now. Just don’t get ripped off with internet marketing. Also don’t get caught up with some of the hype here. Just because other are pumping things up doesn’t mean you have to buy
  5. You have an old web site think it was something like taxfreegold that was a go to for just about all coins information but about 4 years ago it stopped working on the phone which was disappointing as learnt so much from it. Chards is my go to but if I was new atkinsons web site is a lot easier to navigate on a phone
  6. Is this the same in all industries? £10k isn’t a lot now. So if mortgages, loans or buying a car do the have to report it to HMRC?

    Random Rant

Funny that I’ve had 4 conversations in last couple days about banks and many companies and individuals doing cashless. All 4 said that they have never seen so much cash floating about for payments. The banks charging so much to deposit cash is making a bigger and bigger black economy in their eyes. interesting in my local town, with the takeaways, 4 take cash only 4 cards only and 2 take both. Not sure if that’s the same everywhere but it’s what’s happening here
  8. i like these, the gold 20p is the one id love to have
  9. Couldn’t get it work for me either. Bought anyway and I’m sure they will give the points
  10. Any where other than royal mint bullion to get the double sovereign?
  11. Funny how people will argue over £2 or £3 on a coin that cost £400. I’d buy from chards every time if this is the case. Why? 1 Lawrence is on this forum and gives us insight in to his coin knowledge chat comes for free, 2, chards are also here answering questions. 3, the proofs of purchased from chards have always been delivered in perfect condition, 4, alway kept up to date on Pre orders when they are expecting to deliver, 5, if I was in Blackpool I’m sure they would welcome me into the shop and show coins I was looking for. 6, the price difference would be half a pint or a bag of chips. Answer is would you get/do you get this service from any other dealer in the country???
  12. Do royal mint bullion still ‘not fix’ price when purchase so can charge price when it’s available rather than when you buy? So May be in for a shock if still the case
  13. @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer will you be selling the 1/4 and double in time? Or will these have to come directly from the mint
  14. I’m a seller. But at £2500 I’d be a buyer. A realistic price is some that’s fair to the buyer and the seller. No point asking £4500 if can get a PF70 for less but not interested in selling below issue price either
  15. What is a realistic price for a raw 1oz proof queens beasts completer at the moment? A few on eBay at silly prices
  16. Now read it and still not answered question
  17. I haven’t read all the thread but how does 1% compare to other valuables insurance? Eg watches, jewellery, train sets, Lego? Would it be standard, more or less?
  18. I can’t get that if they are trying to sell out why aren’t they available on the web. I buy a fair bit from the royal mint but don’t have an account manager so even if I wanted to pick up more coins they say they aren’t available
  19. Just a thought, is the 2023 proof has the same design with a mintage of 500 (5 coin set) which would be the better set to have?
  20. I find it hard to believe that they sold 750 4 coin sets which is a royal mint exclusive and they haven’t sold out the 5 coin set which will be sent to dealers aswell. Anyone know how many 5 coin sets were available from the on the royal mint website from the outset?
  21. Many one have an updated list of sovereign varieties. I’ve got the marsh book but think that only goes up to 2017. Must be another 20 odd on that with sotd’s.
  22. With the royal mints lust for money that I can’t see changing they could change the design on the sovereign every year like they do with the Brit. This will persuade collectors to get every year because ‘it’s a unique design’. They are watering down the prestige of the sovereign with every release
  23. Decided against the 5 set, just a gut feeling but 1200 and 1000 bu not sure the secondary market will take it. only way it will is if the flippers that arrived over covid have burnt fingers and they don't come up in such large numbers as in the past
  24. chards £14 cheaper. no price for 5 coin yet
