  1. Set a personal goal on stack ozs. Or buy what you like and make it a collection!
  2. It's a no from me can't stand the stuff. Small tasteful pieces ok but larger pieces and tiaras just seem so old fashion now. Agood watch is classy. I seem to remember perth mint and others making jewellery, even then a bit naff.
  3. Just get a part time job there and it's an inside job, and you get to chat up the dolly bird!
  4. Like a lot of poured bars quite bland. I do like some of the minted bars and some of the coin bars more interesting.
  5. Looks like welding scorch marks! what do they seal them with a plasma torch?
  6. The proof has a completly different finish to the bu coin! marks or dirt does't make them a bu coin just a devalued proof. There is a lot of value sorry premium added to proofs over bu for various reasons but damage doesn't change the fact that it was made as a proof coin and will always will a proof coin no matter its condition. We are in an age now where a FDC coin is the only proof coin worth having really is a most sucessful marketing ploy by the grading companies! I've been buying a few coins i really like in the sub-standard PF69 range for a lot less than a PF70, breaking them out for my collection displays then if i get another then regrading and getting a PF70.
  7. I remember while in Germany a few years ago you could buy 1g and 5g gold bars from vending machines in motorway services. That's proper faff free gold buying! If i remember it was Metalor bars. Most of the time costco are the best price for sovs and it's the 1oz brits that the price isn't so great. The gold bars size starts at 20g so the price puts me off on my 1 or 2 visits per week.
  8. I normally get sovs in my local costco at about £10 for 1 coin under normal chards, atties or a n other online prices and no p&p either. I usually take a look at the online price before i go in. Last couple of visits this week prices have been a little high for my liking and have bought on-line with my other gold stack purchases. The bairds bars are very competitive like for like though .
  9. I've bought small batches of silver often over many years and I've not done too badly over time. Some for collections and some for my stack. If you like it buy it as long as you can afford it!
  10. There are some 1/4 OZ silver coloured coins too.
  11. i'm no expert in Korean but i don't think clay is a currency.
  12. Aren't these rounds not coins!
  13. Not forgetting the RAM too!
  14. I noticed the £2 sovereigns are now out n 'bout. What about the £5 version, or have i missed them totally?
  15. Two sides to every story and will joe blogs ever know the truth. ELVIS lives! And in a room just down the hall to JFK! They fight vampires at night don't you know.
  16. Yeah me too. I've just shaved so i'm a smooth criminal. Hahahahaha Boom Boom.
  17. HWD has just stated what is known to be fact with added info. Look up Hire Purchase agreements etc. Car rentals to an certain level etc. Mobility cars etc. Someones mum gets too old to drive but lets their granddaughter drive and insure the car, Ownership doesn't change but the responsibility for the vehicle does.
  18. I personally feel that the cash in society will slowly be taken away! Government statments like " We have to stop making 1p and 2p coins as the materials are now worth more" then 5p then 10p and 50p. Then a royal decree everyone must be equal and a bank of England Debit card must be issued to everyone and CASH is gone. Not NOW but possibly by 2100. Not in our life time. Plenty of time to change public perception of an outdated idea like worthless CASH. After all cash is used by criminals!
  19. If you don't mind waiting i'd find a a lesser numi coin that hasn't been exploited yet and buy a few of the best examples you can find and wait for the market to catch up. I've kind of done that with old crowns. Bought in at around £200 to £250 worth now double. A chap i meet in leeds a few years ago had a liking for old pennies now he is a expert on the coin and has been very, very sucessful.
  20. I haven't had anything go missing i've sent but haven't recieved plenty. I particularly hate the feeling when i've had to tell the sender that the item hasn't arrived. I feel bad that some sh!tb@g has got something i paid my hard earned on and they just steal it. For me it's not about money insurance takes care of that it's the principle of the matter. It really makes me mad.
  21. We're well into the third series of the Perth Mints famous Lunar series. What do you guys n gals think of this series as it progresses?
  22. The Kooks really are a beautiful coin I've got two full sets of the standard 1oz bu coins. some bu 2oz and quite a few proofs too. I just pick them up here, there and everywhere. An old friend and colleague works in a sort of clearing house for house clearances and i get a fair bit of silver and gold through them. I have a list for several coins that i get every year without fail. Perth Mint Lunars silver and gold, kooks and Kangaroos, bullion sovs and the list could go on. Get on the bandwagon for the coins you like now and backdate the collection at your leisure. I always get 2 of everything unless it's 1oz gold or 1kg silver. 1 for the collection and 1 for the stack!
  23. Now where to look in the Chard household for a small 20 kilo stack of gold bars? I'd start off looking in the piano, the safe would be too obvious.
