  1. You could take a look at AliExpress. Search for the coin you're interested in. It has all sorts of replica (fake) coins for sale.
  2. I was thinking about to post something similar to this topic on CGT. My take was should CGT be abolished tomorrow (for argument sake), would members still continue to buy Sovereigns and Britannias. In answer to your question, how would HMRC know ? And why would you want to tell them ?

    Gold Premiums

With regards to premiums on gold coins, I think it could also depend on where you are in the world. In the UK, sovereigns and Brits are popular and in high demand. So I suspect dealers can now play the market by jacking up premiums and still see punters queueing up for them. Elsewhere in the east, LPM sells 1oz Brits typically about 4% premium and current year Pandas around 3.5%. There are sometimes deals on Elephants. But Buffalos and Libertads are in the league of their own and difficult to justify buying them.
  4. Could you not take a relative with you when you need to sell your big gold stack. Sell some under each person's name to meet the CGT allowance limit. I assume you are not a loner ! 😎
  5. With regards to CGT, if the government can reduce the allowance in one year then it can also abolish CGT completely in subsequent years. Just a thought, my two pennies ! 😎 CGT coins are overrated IMO.
  6. Hello! Welcome to the forum. Nice work in accumulating a sizeable amount in ten months. Enjoy your journey into the world of precious metals.👍
  7. Wow ! Someone has caught a gold fever and should fit right in on the forum. Have a look at the gold pandas too. They are very nice. The buffalo looks like a fake. I think the OP should send it to me to double check. 😆 I yet to have one of those. 😅
  8. I personally do not buy high premium high value silver coins. This is because should they develop milk spots or other blemish over time, then they lose their premium. So with 1kg silver, I buy bars instead.
  9. Your coin looks fine to me. Here are pictures of mine together with the silver version.
  10. Is that a medal to commemorate Charles & Diana wedding in 1981 ?
  11. I suspect when @James32 starts offloading his stack then it'll depress prices to that level. A bit like Brown's bottom when Gordon Brown offloaded Britain's gold reserves and caused price to gold to drop. Except this time around, it would be James' bottom ! 😎
  12. Wow wee ! That didn't age well 🤭
  13. You're not the only one on here. But £800-900 doesn't go far anymore when it comes to gold. On a limited budget, I would agree with those who suggested buying a couple of gold sovereigns. I think it's the best option on a limited budget. They are low premium and are easy to sell, should you need to.
  14. Hello! Welcome to the forum. There are plenty of likeminded collectors and stackers of precious metals on here. You have stumbled into the place to learn and discuss anything about PMs. Enjoy the ride.🤗
  15. Hello! Welcome to the forum. There are plently of knowledgeable precious metal collectors and stackers here. So you are in the right place. Enjoy the ride ! 🤗
  16. As mentioned above, best to take it to a jeweller to have it verified. The colour of the ring doesn't look like .999 gold, so not 24K. My guess is 14K judging by the colour alone. But as you are thinking of selling, why not pop into the jewellers and ask if they would be interested in buying the ring. That way, they'll likely do tests and possibly give you a price. If not satified, then you can tell them you'll think it over. I don't know whether masonic rings are highly sought after on the market. Someone on here might know or you can check on ebay sold listings and have a look.
  17. I had a look at your listings and not all are what you call mainstream mint products. Apart from the South African proof set, the others are old commemorative issues and possibly not interesting enough for members to part with their cash. In your case, it is more to do with the product on offer rather than solely a trust issue. I seem to recall a new member on here a while ago wanting to sell his gold coins to finance a large purchase (might have been for a house deposit or a car. I don't recall). But he had a collection of 1oz gold Queen's Beasts among other coins on offer. Needless to say, they were sold fairly quickly.
  18. Beware ! It could be Leonna from Leeds 😎
  19. I would keep it. It's not as if they sent you a 1/4oz gold coin instead of a half. This is your 1st gold purchase. After 5, 10, 20 more gold coins later, then the 1st one will be far more interesting because of the mint error. If you need to sell in future, dealers or experience buyers aren't going to be put off by it. Because they will buying your gold coin and not the plastic.
  20. Welcome to the forum. Have a look on the Buy & Sell section to check on prices of sales items. You might found something you like. If you are serious about buying precious metals on the forum, then I suggest paying for Silver Membership where you will be able to see sales items immediately. Otherwise, as a non-premium member you will only see sales item after 72hours. By which time, any good deals would have long gone. All the best on your new found interest.
