  1. I bet you are proud of yourself by getting into the yellow metal when you did hey ! Welcome to the forum btw.
  2. Britannia Misinformation by a Reputable Dealer A bit like a click-bait this post. I thought it was something so unforgivable that deserves capital punishment. 😎
  3. Computer equipment can become obsolete very quickly. It is by design. I think the term is planned obsolescence. This is how the industry get consumers to keep buying / upgrading. Today's smartphones are like yesterday's desktop / laptop computers. My first PC was a Gateway Pentium 75. It cost me £1,000 desktop box only back in 1995 or 1996. I upgraded RAM and HDD to run Windows 98 and maybe ME. After that it wasn't good enough or fast enough for daily use and was discarded. Image how much £1,000 I would have bought in gold or silver at that time. It's good that they don't become obsolete anytime soon ! 😎
  4. With all the talk about Gillicks sovereigns has got me to check my spreadsheet to see how many I have. According to my spreadsheet, I have seven (1958, 1964, two 1965, two 1967, 1968). The cheapest one cost £194 (purchased in Jan 2016) and the dearest £343 (Oct 2020). (I record all my purchases including postage). I wasn't really into sovereigns until I joined TSF. Most of my sovereigns were lucky dips from dealers. Back in 2016, I simply bought them because I wanted to round up the invoice to the nearest thousand. (sounds snobbish I know but don't mention it !) 😎 If there's a hype on the Gillicks, then it would only be temporary. This is because they are not anymore special than other mass produced sovereigns. So cash in while you can ! 😉
  5. The exit is on your right. There is still time to change your mind. Otherwise, welcome to the madhouse forum 🤗
  6. Here a look at the article on Coinweek. https://coinweek.com/prices/rare-1964-sms-kennedy-half-dollar-sells-47k/ Judging by the description on the article, do you think yours is a SMS ? How To Tell A 1964 SMS Kennedy Half Dollar from a Business Strike Or Proof The 1964 SMS Kennedy half dollar that just sold for nearly $50,000 has a satin-textured surface, which is the general appearance of all 1964 SMS halves. Salmon-orange rim toning kisses the upper obverse and lower reverse surfaces of the coin with ambient white-gray coloration across the fields and devices. Surface marks on the lower obverse that mimic dark fingerprints are described by Heritage as “carbon-gray flecks.” Overall, the coin boasts strong details and a sharp, square wire rim – features seen on other 1964 SMS Kennedy half dollars. Die polishing marks and an absence of contact marks further indicate these 1964 Kennedy half dollars were specially struck and not simply high-end business-strike specimens. These coins do not display the mirror-like reflective surfaces that are seen on proof coins, yet they have a stronger strike than seen on either the 1964 proof coinage or SMS coinage from 1965 through 1967. Another important die marker on the 1964 SMS Kennedy half dollar is known as a “dangling 4”. This diagnostic is a tiny, teardrop shaped piece of metal that descends below the 4 digit in the coin’s 1964 date.
  7. Hello! Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your journey into the world of precious metals. Many knowledgeable and experience TDF TSF members here can certainly help you along the way ! 👍😎
  8. I think it was made in 1760 with a sell by date 1790. Clearly it is no longer edible ! 😎
  9. You probably have better eyesight than the most of us ! 😉 With these size coins, some of us would have to take close up photos and magnify it on screen to appreciate it.
  10. I have downloaded the photo provided by OP and enhanced it a little. It seems to me that the date (1925) is mis-aligned and the strike of the coin doesn't look right. I have also taken a photo of the same coin (with a bit of wear) from BBP for comparison. The OP has commented in another thread that he used to be able to buy coins at spot from a coin dealer. Judging from this example, I would be suspicious !
  11. I bet you're one of those who goes around telling young kids Father Christmas isn't real. You spoil sport ! 🤣
  12. You can understand why judging by the design. 😎
  13. Farmland, gold and a posh beach front property 😉
  14. Anything is possible as they are paper prices at the end of the day. Who would have thought that the US Crude Oil could go down to -$37.63 per barrel in April 2020. This didn't mean the oil companies would give you a barrel of oil for free plus $37.63. Even if gold were to suddenly drop to £750 spot, I bet no one would be able to buy anywhere near that price. And the dealers would be "out of stock" in a flash !
  15. Gold is priced in US Dollars (USD). The Australian Dollar (AUD) hasn't fair well against USD over the last 3-4 months. Hence, in AUD terms gold is more expensive. This partly explains the rise in price. It could also be high demand for gold in Australia against limited supply. So dealer can play the market by jacking up premiums.
  16. I have cash ready. Wake me up when it happens ! 😴😴😴
  17. Quite a few of them were sold on ebay in US. On ebay UK, the most recent listing was sold for £360 plus postage. This should give you an estimate of its value. But on TSF, whether members are interested enough to pay the going rate on ebay is different matter. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Bonnie+%26+Clyde+2oz+silver+coin&_sacat=0&LH_PrefLoc=2&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
  18. Had to google them to see what they are. They aren't great looking coins. Technically they are rounds from a private mint. So if the mint haven't release the mintage figures, then it would not be available in the public sphere.
  19. What premium did you have to pay ? Silly or sensible ?! 😊
  20. Choices choices! Some many to chose from. At this rate, how about a list of Spectacular 12 ! 👍😎
  21. Hello! Welcome to the forum. Interested to know what gold coins you collected over the years. I'm sure the gold Krugerrand would be one of them. 🤗
