First thoughts from the photos (which are a bit blurred on phone) it looks as if the "gold" surface is wearing through to an inferior metal. Is that a mintmark or die number below the shield? Sydney sovs were first minted in the 50s (I think 55 onwards from memory) I'd have to pull up a comparison photo to spot any other details

Both of my sovs on a recent visit to the SDB. Something about the lighting in there makes it look like there is more than 2.
