Microscope photos: 2024 Kookaburra

Recommended Posts

Bullion kooks just work

They don't tend to milk or tarnish, they have their own capsules from the mint. I like the overall designs (effigy) and the wildlife

'Kookaburra' is the street name of a Kingfisher that has been incarcerated and forcibly mated with. Upon release they turn into a cross between a Cockerel and a Honey Badger

You wouldn't mess with that, would you? Nah mate, neither would I, and that's why I stack Kooks to scare away the milkmaid monsters

Mind is primary and mass-energy is derivative

Do these ones have a micro-laser engraved letter as a security feature, like on the Kangaroos?

Where am I looking for it?  I actually don't have the coin in front of me right now.  If it's on the reverse, you'd probably see it in my full image on TIR.

I believe it is on the far left of the rocky canyon, should be a tiny 'P'. Looking at your photos in the TIR thread, it's there.

Yes, there is a very small P there.  It's in relief, like the rest of the small writing, and not what I'd call micro-text.  Definitely not laser.

On the Kangaroos it's a tiny letter A inside the first letter of AUSTRALIA.

I'll have a look when I get the coin.

Just a pot-shot with my phone, but this is where it is on the 2021 Kangaroo, so it may be in different places depending on the coin/year.

I've had another look.  Definitely nothing in the lettering, like on the roo and quokka.

It must be the P on the far left of the rock on the reverse.

It's much smaller than the other lettering, but you can still see it with the naked eye (just).  Maybe a quarter of a millimetre tall.

@HonestMoneyGoldSilver - Better change your password.  I think Treetop's gotten into your account.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.
