Let's do that with sovereigns

I'm trying, Don't think I'll get there though. Got another 25 to 30 years of collecting to have the same time period of collecting.

2300 Morgan Dollars. The collector must have really loved the coin.

@modofantasma - we're all looking to you.  Now you've got something to aim for.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

Thought he only did shields?

No, he's got others as well.  Just trying to do (ambitiously) a shield date run - or not, depending on who you ask or when.

I was talking to a dealer in the US who was recently offered an amazing 2300 Morgan Dollars by a sole individual.

Apparently collected from the Mid Sixties to the mid 2000’s and the passed on when the collector passed away.

Whilst the stack was a mixed bag in terms of quality, that’s really quite an achievement just in terms of volume.

Something for us to aim at!

Sounds like @Mrpound

That's the problem. I don't wish to have a huge collection and be dead . If you have a nice pension and enjoying retirement then keep on collecting. My plan was to reduce the collection over time to supplement a pension and keep a few nice coins to dribble over in the old peoples home and to make sure the grandkids still visit lol . I don't really know what the end plan will be.  Storing  a large collection in old age would make one very vulnerable . This stacking bug should usually start at an early age , which is the age you can least afford to .

Gold is too heavy to bring into heaven. We're all just custodians of our collection.

Or could we try to live on forever?

If we do the right thing this time, we might have to do the right thing again next time.
