Gold bars or gold coins

It is 7.98g of gold 22ct, so technically equivalent 7.32g pure gold.

I don't think if will do better than other classic sovereigns, to be honest. All off them are selling on secondary market almost at the same price, with £5-£10 more or less.

Over 10yrs, just doesn't matter.

Try do have a good average when buying and your stack will grow steady and healthy.

A good average mate can you explain more please

It's difficult to say, lots can happen/change in 10 years, but most bullion sovereigns go for a few % over spot, so buying the cheapest is a good plan.

Trouble is, some bullion sovs end up being worth a few £ more - take the recent price increase of Gillicks since QEII passed - before that, they were being sold at the same price as the current year sovs. And then there's the fascination with Vic Shields...

Buying some Charles Coronation sovs now, for the cheapest price should see your investment well preserved.

Gillicks?

@BipolarStacker

There are perhaps two kinds of stackers here.

Some just look for the cheapest metal (inc. post) they can find.

Others like to put together mini-collections, which, more often than not work out the same, if a little more, but have potential to increase in value.

I cannot say more in case I give away secrets 😎

Well, buying 1/10 brits is a bad way to start!

Please read what is being said to you.

Yes. Try to buy always the cheapest mint condition you can find, doesn't matter where the spot is at the moment you want to buy. If you have money to spend of gold today, just buy, don't wait to drop the spot. After will be in your hands, will still be the cheapest of that day.

There are fluctuations on spot, up and down on short/medium term, but if your intention is to stack on long term, 10-15yrs, these fluctuations will not count, because the spot will be anyway higher than now.

Let's say that your first sovereign is £376 and you buy regularly two per month.

In one year, probably will cost you £400 to buy one, but your average is already lower than £400.

The same will be in 10years from now. It is very possible to be priced at £900/each when will come the time to sell. Your 10 yrs average will be @£600, so you will be already on profit.

I am not talking nonsense, there are people on forum with their average now under £200/sover and they are selling now their stack at @£375/each.

If I can buy them for £376 I’ll buy 1 every Friday

I'm a lover of 1/10ths matey, very liquid if you need to get rid but no short term profits in them, you need to hold for spot increases for these, as you do with others when you buy high anyway...

enjoy your path, you will find the yellow brick road in your own time and along the way you WILL make the odd mistake, we all have... you learn from it

@BipolarStacker you probably already know that there is so much information to process.

I feel very proud of you that you have taken this head on.

I think that eventually you will find your preferred coins, but in the meantime a good solid foundation seems to be what you will build.

Well done you, and for Mrs B.  for putting up with all this information coming into your lives 🌞🖖
