Also, as the forum software just registers minutes, it is impossible without doing what @Charliemousedoes to see the exact time, so by setting an end time at a time which can be easily checked on the forum, then any bids prior to this end time, e.g. any up to 19:59:59 can easily be seen as valid as they will show a 19;59 stamp, showing who's bids were placed on time

Just checked now again and your bid @Orpster shows 20:00

Yea does for me too mate, changes nothing regardless but an oddity likely to do with synchronisation between my laptops clock and the forums.  Were all too busy trying to get in at the last second lol

Duncan has the final say. He chooses to who to sell the coins to. It is also obvious that everyone stopped bidding as the clock chimed 8pm.  I be happy which ever way it goes. The old ebay sniping skills are still there.

Yes you can see how everyone else understood how it works and why all other bids were attempted to be submitted before the clock struck 8

I think there is a discrepancy between the 'auto catch-up' when it loads previous posts automatically when you post, and a full refresh.  The full refresh, although slower, would provide the correct 'server' times.

I would argue that even a bid with the detailed timestamp of 20:00:00 happened after 'precisely' 8pm.

I know it's too late now, but most auctions are more explicit about what the timestamps mean.  I would certainly recommend this in future, to avoid confusion and disappointment.
