Government Proceeds of Crime Auction of Betts Fine Gold Grade 9999 Bullion Bars

I only saw this earlier today, while checking my recollections of "Betts", a name I remember from decades ago. I was aware that there had been numerous incarnations or reincarnations of Betts, refiners and bullion dealers, and was trying to ensure my memories were accurate and up to date.

I do know a little more, but it's getting late, but I still have some more work to do.

Although this auction was for gold bars, I have listed this Topic under General Precious Metals as Betts did also work with silver, and probably platinum and palladium.

Is there a Mr. J. Stunt on the board?

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

£4850 and it's a deal.

Due to its sketchy past 😆

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

I expected you to ask about "Free Postage"...

... and the answer is OK if your take the lot.

... to free postage that is, not the 3% discount.

1% premium is a good deal.

😎

Actually they are priced extremely good. But you need to focus on the bigger picture, not only would chards.co.uk get glowing feedback on trust pilot, you would receive your first on here. Trust is everything and one feedback from me, you won't have to settle for being a millionaire, you could be a billionaire in 40 years 😆

Missed the opportunity to say "it's a steal".

That's a great line!

I just looked through the whole auction catalogue, which was for:

Qty Grams Line Total
1 1,000.00 1000
4 500.00 2000
37 250.00 9250
79 100.00 7900
34 31.10 1057.519
    21207.519 Grams Total
Spot Gold Per Gram 50.151
Total Value   £1,063,578

The auction house buyers premium was the biggest steal at 24%, so any sensible buyer would have divided their maximum bid by 1.24 in which case if every lot sold at the current spot price, the proceeds would have been £857 724, making £205, 853 in buyers premium for the auction house, in addition to any fees they charged the vendors!

We are in the wrong business!

Yes, but if we moved into auctions, we could make £1 million per week, just working a few hours a day, that's a £ billion in less than 20 years!
