Can i ask the silver content of Half Crown coins. My friend has some 1948 coins to sell. Is there a way of calculating the silver content or should i just look at the coin value

The  silver content of 1948 Half Crowns is easy to calculate. It is zero.

Pre-1947 Half Crowns are 50% silver. Anything after are cupro-nickel. So the 1948 half crowns aren't made of silver.

Sorry I’m late to this topic. I know it’s already been explained to you, but I usually show this photo of 3 half-crowns so you can see the difference if you compare them carefully…..
