Royal Mint - Misleading Information

Received an email from RM regarding the 1991 Proof Sovereign(s) they have for sale.  The listing claims it has a mintage of only 4,713 coins, however looking at the information from Spink this was for the single coin set only.  The 1 sovereign was also included in the 3 and 4 coin sets with a total mintage of 7,201 coins (including the single coin sets).

I think the answer will be that "Limited edition mintage of just 4,713" means limited presention!

Correct but it gives the impression the mintage was lower than it actually is, in my opinion.

Although, on checking, we have the same figure on our websites, new and old.

Marsh also quotes the same number, as does Spink, but the latter does caution "Where number of coins issued or the Edition Limit is quoted, rhese refeer to individual coins. Addiitonal coins were included in sets, which are listed in the appropriate section.

No. 'Mintage' refers to mintage. 'Presentation' is used for presentation.

We live in a World where the "intelligentsia" can't even define what a woman is, maybe the presentation now identifies as a mintage?

No idea what your 'presention' refers to.

:P

I did not invent the use of the word "presentation" in relation to coin mintages and issue limits, but as it is now in reguler use by the RM and other coin marketing companies, it would be silly of me to ignore it.
