Today I bought.....

That's a bullion coin Danny not a proof, the only 1997 1oz proof was kookaburra on a fence. The privy is gold though.

Thanks MB, appreciate the knowledge.

The hunt for the first 1oz proof continues then [emoji1]

A lot of places online list it as a proof for some reason, which is why I said that.

The moral, never believe what you read online!!!

No problem Danny, you've got a date run of Bu Kooks have a look at the obverse of your 1997 and it will be exactly the same as the coin you've just bought.

yeah I know what you mean on ebay even regular coin dealers sometime list Bu's a proofs.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

I'll compare when it arrives matey.

It's not just eBay, even just a google search for the coin seems to list it more often than not as a proof.

I didn't pay too much for it so I'm cool with it being BU.

Dave, as the years go by they are only going to get more expensive.

I'm only back to 2009 [emoji1]

The 08 was £25. The sets were around £130 (with haggle room) many years from 1998 onwards

Cheers Dr.

The 08 was a bit expensive if it was scratched, but £120 (accounting for the haggle) for the proof sets isn't too bad.

I'd buy some at closer to the £100 mark, but with some BU's going for £40 lately, that's not going to happen.
