Welcome to the TSF Janine! best place for all PM related stuff! Including buying and selling!

Thank you for such a warm welcome :)

So, where is a good place for a newbie like me to start? I am eager to learn and begin collecting. A shove in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I would spend a few weeks looking at the trade section of the forum to work out what you like and get an idea of prices. Then ideally upgrade to silver membership so that you can see the best deals as soon as they come out (you will save a fortune on here compared to ebay).

IMO Don't make my mistake by purchasing loads of random coins. It takes up lots of space and gets messy. Also beware, there are a lot of novelty coins out there that wont necessarily give you a premium when you come to sell (colourised coins). I have spent years focussing my collection down so now I only collect 10oz Britannia bars and Britannia coins. Unlike what some might say, the price of silver/gold wont suddenly shoot up so don't rush purchases (discipline is key here!).

Currently stacking 10oz Unas and Britannia bars
