Some in here are all in gold and/or silver. IMO if government go after gold, they're going after all investment bullion releasing the value into fiat and thus getting it back into the economy.

It is in Odey's interest to stop people flocking to gold. He's said all this before ad nauseum. He is actually trying to scare his rich clients from hoarding good delivery bars at the LBMA.

The UKs income tax system is geared towards taking money off the masses and not the rich. The 0, 20, 40, and 45% tax bands seem somewhat fair until you factor in national insurance. National insurance is 0% upto 10k, 12% from 10k to 50k and 2% from 50k upwards. National insurance is a regressive tax which offsets the progressive income tax. The annual revenue from national insurance is more than double corporation tax. 
 

People on high salaries also put a lot in to pensions to avoid paying tax which isn’t a luxury afforded to people on lower incomes. 

Another big ticket item on everyone’s monthly outgoings is council tax. Which is based on the values of homes in 1991! How ridiculous is that. Why haven’t homes been re-banded in 30 years? Hmmm. 
 

And if you’ve really got money you can avoid all of this and a lot more altogether.

It's the goal of socialism is to destroy the middle class most and foremost. It wasn't ever objecting the super rich, they actually sponsored it, read Antony C. Sutton about this subject. Also ideologically, a ruling class remains in socialism and the super rich could figure out for themselves to become part of this ruling class, in socialism. The NHS is another socialist organisation. It's run by the government. The service it provides is accordingly very bad. Progressive taxation was never introduced to reach all the way up to the super rich but only up to the middle class.

Agreed in what you say, they do a lot with nothing, the armed forces is the same. The problem you have is procuremnt and poor contacting the NHS and MOD. Its been like that for years. Thats why you get some lunacy like expensive car parks for visitors to visit thier sick. Or in the MODs case is not buying alreay trailed kit off the peg. If anybody is intrested in this there a good book called lions dinosaurs and donkeys and shows all the Quango's - with how the taxpayers money is wasted.

Although all I ever hear is my French colleagues calling the NHS c**p compared to their system. The Germans too. Even the Spanish. I have no idea about their systems for their citizens but they do go on about it.
